Sources: Mildred Aristide meets with U.S. Ambassador to Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) - Sources say former First Lady Mildred Aristide met with the U.S. Ambassador to Port-au-Prince, Pamela White, on Wednesday where among topics discussed were the growing anti-government protests in the capital city.

The meeting comes 48 hours after a massive protest brought ten thousand to the streets in protest for President Michel Martelly's resignation and 24 hours after the opposition groups that organized that protest announced a third for the month of November, for the 29th, a march to the U.S. Embassy.

Jean-Junior Joseph, receiving information from Journalist Valerio Saint-Louis said through his twitter feed that during the meeting, Mildred Aristide had told the U.S. ambassador that anti-government protesters were "quiet" but were "rebuked" by the administration.

On Aristide, JJJ reported:

"Mrs Aristide claimed his [sic] husband is more interested in social programs, not in day to day politics"

JJJ also tweeted that the former First Lady told the Ambassador that, Tet Kale fanatics, those supporting the administration, used violence against the anti-government protesters in the streets.

All in all, it was tweeted that:

"There is no final decision in the meeting between US @AmbPWhite & Mildred Aristid."

In my opinion Haiti is under foreign occupation and it needs to end. I think that Haitians can do a better job than the UN or the NGO's will ever do, the foreign soldiers and diplomats are not helping. They are simply their to ensure that when the mining corporations arrive to steal Haiti's untapped minerals resources they are unopposed.
Why abolish the armed forces, why keep the country weak?
Martelly's hands seem to be tied, stop being 'sweet' Mickey, si vous plait?

You gave the answer before you asked the question. Haiti's government (when they get one) is neither in control of it's population nor it's resources. It will continue to act only as a brokerage, owing continual allegience and obedience to the underwriters. It is the NWO model satellite nation. Anyone who thought that Soviet style totalitarianism was bad is about to find out what's worse. Haiti is the proving ground.

I think that the sad part is to think that anyone is in charge in Haiti. The current President.. against whom there are now vibrant protests in the streets.. was a sort of replacement candidate in the run offs.. to placate the "populus" for the loss of Wyclef Jean who did not meet the requirements for the Presidency and was, of course, totally unacceptable to the elites. As was the candidate of Preval and his party.. who were deemed to be "Aristide light". Now Aristide is back and his party, Lavalas, is back and gearing up for the legislative elections and is the most organized political party in Haiti. It would be unwise to forget either his popularity or his base as he was the first democratically elected president of Haiti.. running, essentially on a platform of liberation a theology with its preferential treatment for the poor

Aristide is hero for the global intellectual left and has a great deal of support still in Canada, the US and the UK, with books and videos which praise him as a people's hero. Those who were perhaps closer to the scene know him as megolo menacial drug dealer.. Drug Traffickers Find Haiti a Hospitable Port of Call - New York Times and so are perhaps a bit worried about his return.

For those here in the DR who keep sorta saying that Haiti needs to just look out for Haiti.. it would be good to remember a few things -- that the VERY first plane that landed in Haiti after the earthquake was from Mainland China and that President Preval regularly went to Cuba for medical treatment.. and that Venezuela has long been a donor and supporter of Haiti.

So the issue of Haiti is not just about the poverty, or immigration but also whether or not it will again degenerate down to the level of narco state.

Populus????

There was no populus behind wyclef or martelly.

No more than a third of voters went to the poll....an extremely low number for a haitian presidential election.

Of that one third martelly got less than a third.

Most haitians simply sat the scam of an election out. Wyclef and martelly simply had a vocal minority.

Yes Preval is Lavalas/Aristide light....and that is why he was able to complete two full terms and retire peacefully in Haiti.

A lavalas light government is the only way to keep the masses and the anti-masses from each others throat.

Here is another publication by the folks who backed Aristide (call it Aristide heavy).. As Huge Demonstrations Call for President?s Resignation: Proposal for a Post-Martelly Transitional Government Comes to the Fore who are .. Based in Brooklyn.. blocking the passage of the amendments to the 1987 constitution which allowed the dual citizenship which will increase the power base to include them..... (It is very cheap now to pay for a mob in Haiti).. Note that there is no suggestion here that they respect the Constitution and wait for the election.. but really just a call for the overthrow of the President.

So, yes, I would say that Aristide is a force in Haiti. Kim Ives is one of his top lieutenants.

So who do you see running a Lavalas Light government? Usually their organization publishes the news through Aristide's formerlawyer, Brian Concannon at the Institute for Justice and Democracy Institute for Justice and Democracy in Haiti: Recommended Readings

Threats, Harassment and Intimidation Against Attorney Mario Joseph

No specific name...but someone of Preval's temperament.

Neo-duvalierists like the present US selected president will always get in trouble.
