At least 350 Haitians and people of Haitian descent have either been expelled from the Dominican Republic or left on their own accord in recent days after two Dominicans were killed, said Lolo Sterne, coordinator for Haiti?s Office of Migration, on Monday. The two Dominicans were killed last week in the town of Neiba during what appeared to be a burglary, and a Dominican mob retaliated by killing a Haitian man.

Migrant advocates said that many of those who were deported had gone to a police station seeking refuge, and that some volunteered to leave the country because they feared being victims of mob violence. Others left because the Dominican authorities rounded them up in the streets, migrant advocates added. The Dominican police said the people were not expelled from the country, but rather went to the police station because they feared reprisals and asked the authorities to escort them to the border so they could cross it themselves. Haiti and the Dominican Republic have had a volatile relationship as neighbors on the Caribbean island of Hispaniola

Eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth, I hate any form of violence, such a shame so close to Christmas, I send sympathy to the families who have to live with the loss for the rest of their lives...

Neiba has been a hotbed recently, over 80 Haitians were at the police station seeking protection.

Lines are being drawn in the sand, and I think this is only the beginning.

Things will probably get uglier before they get better and as always it will all be DR's fault. When does Haiti get any blame for failing it's own people?

It doesn't matter anymore if they blame the DR. I knew this was going to happen
as the people are aware of what the Haitian gov't is doing, slandering the DR. They
are fed up and are taking matters into their own hands. Either they leave voluntarily
or they will be expelled.(by the people)

After murder of 2 Dominicans, 211 Haitians return across the border

Neyba, Dominican Republic.- More than 200 undocumented Haitians were repatriated Sunday after hiding out in the Army barracks and police precinct several days on fears of reprisal in the wake of the murder of a Dominican couple last week allegedly by two Haitians still at large.

The 211 Haitians were handed over to Immigration Agency official in Jimani Hipolito Martinez, who escorted them to their country at once, through the crossing at Malpasse. Children and senior citizens figured among the repatriated.

The repatriation comes in the heels of last week’s stabbing and bludgeoning death of Jos? M?ndez and Luja Bocio, both 70, in a village in western Baoruco province. The Haitians Andr?s Pie and Papo Sano are suspected of the killings during a burglary.

When the villagers heard of the murders, a mob gathered in the streets and lynched Coito Pie, 25, in retaliation for the deaths of the Dominicans in the village of La Petaca.

More should be encouraged to self-deport. Afterall won't there be plenty of work rebuilding all the earthquake damage? Oh, that's right, all that international aid money was stolen. Sorry no work. Haiti #failednation #plop

It can only get worse since the authorities are too fearful of doing anything concerning the Haitians who penetrate houses that are half built, or businesses that have been idle and will fill it up with dozens upon dozens of people. Because of the NGO's, who scream RACISM!!!!
Then some of them, not all but some will go about sending the little ones to panhandle, some of the older girls will go turn a trick, and the men and women, the ones that can't find a "job", will go about and steal and rob whatever they can get their hands on. They are rowdy and noisey. This is nearby where I live in by La ave independencia. This cannot go on and I'm sure someone or someone's will take care of this. So yes, the Dominican people are nearly fed up with these shenanigans and will help our "Haitian brothers and sisters" find their way "home".

Phuck what the NGO's and others say.Why don't they scream racism when the US, Jamaica
and Barbados deport Haitians. Who the phuck ever heard of crying racism when they are
illegals? This is nothing but a ploy to try and keep the illegal Haitians in the DR and pass
on the burden to the DR.

Well, since the authorities seem to have no balls the people will take care of it. One way or
another they will go.

My sympathy goes out to the family of the deceased.
Are some of you guys that blinkered and hung up on so much dislike of Haitians, that you cannot see where this is leading. There criminals among the human race where ever you go. Thing is, more and more crimes are now going to be blamed on the Haitians and more lynch mobs out in these small communities, as long as a Dominican blames an Haitian. Easier for everyone?
without knowing all the facts. Tell me one thing. why do most Dominicans believe if you are of a darker skin You must be Haitian and straight away they will look down on you? The cops in my area rearly stop Dominicans but always stop Haitians when most of the house breakings and murders have been committed by Dominicans?

1. Agreed
2. Disagree - according to the official number (for what they're worth) Haitians are disproportionally committing crimes

3. The fact is the DR is overburdened with all the Haitians they receive. The DR does not have the resources to cope with such an influx. Large amounts of the DR budget are spent on Haitians receiving both healthcare and education (whether documented or not).

Compare this with the USA.. how would they react if asked to receive 100 Mio Mexicans?

So the DR is asked to accomodate/give over their nation to a people with whom they have a history of bad relations and no cultural affinity. People who have made a total mess of their own country now come here to do the same.

It is perfectly normal for Dominicans to stand up against this and frankly they have been remarkebly soft so far... under Trujillo other measures were taken and it would not surprise me to see a repeat of this era..

What right do you have to ask the Dominicans to give up their land, their culture, their home and their future for vagabonds that have been nothing but enemies in the past?

- Law enforcement and intelligence agencies have detected the presence of as many as 1,000 Haitian convicts in the country, who escaped from various jails in and around Port-au-Prince which collapsed in last year’s earthquake.

Those fugitives fled to the Dominican Republic across the porous border and evade any police pursuit in Haiti.
Several Dominican drug traffickers and other criminals who were serving time for crimes in Haiti returned to the country after escaping from prisons in Port Prince and Cape Haitien. Newspaper Listin, quoting a Police Criminal Intelligence source, reports that dozens of Haitian convicts came to the country with them, whom the Dominican authorities now try to locate.

More than 1,000 in the country

Police Criminal Intelligence estimates that more than 1,000 Haitian fugitivies are in the country, convicted mostly of murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping of Haitian businesspersons, dignitaries and volunteer foreigners, whose governments have paid numerous ransoms for their release.
The number may be much higher however, since the Haitian government reported that around 3,500 inmates escaped from their jails during the quake and few very have been recaptured.

“In Haiti the chaos continues, the Police nor the courts work, and the jails have yet to be refurbished,” the source said. “They have provided us photos and data on hundreds of fugitives who entered the Dominicana Republic.”

Listin also reports that the Armed Forces, the Immigration Agency, the National Investigations Department (DNI) and the National Police, in coordination with the Justice Ministry, have traced a plan to locate, apprehend and extradite all Haitian fugitives in Dominican territory.

Ramjet if you are blind to what is happening, that is your issue. However, no one here has said they "dislike" Haitians brother. YOU said that, we are expressing reality, even when family gets together during the holiday friction occurs my man. Cuz e'rbody is packed in the same house. Domo's don't mind legal immigration, we are very liberal when it comes to that. However the amounts are overwhelming, they are unmanageable. Haiti needs to pick up the slack and care for it's own citizens. The DR is not the dumping ground for all the unfortunates that they produce. Now 30 Haitians drowned off the coast of Nassau. You Ramjet and the international community, you know who you ARE....Should use your influence and your voices to cry out that at least every country in America has to take in 100,000 t0 250,000 Haitian refugees. Especially Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (Mr. Gonsalves, who can't seem to keep his hands to himself, when ladies are around) who were doing all their hoot and hollering about how racist DR supposedly is.
This is the time to put your money where your mouth is. Each Caribbean island should accept some of the burden and not leave it to us and then try to gang up on us as well when we act on the problem that they want to ignore and wish just disappears and goes away, Guyana should accept 500,000 Haitian refugees on account of having more land and territory.
Vargas Llosa should adopt 5 Haitian children and also give the example and take them to Lima, since he is now their champion and provide them with citizenship.
Go ahead Rammy start writing.

I fully understand that the government has a lot to sort out with the number fugitives in this country, apart from the corruption at all levels, the fugitives are who they should have directed the recent immigration laws at rather than almost every Haitian from 1929.
They also need to make it clear that those involved in lynching will also be procecuted, or guess what. tourism will be down even further in no time. and the country will be further in the quagmire where it's heading right now.

Yeah, right on. Same applies to those filthy illegal spanish in the US, (many of whom can't even learn to speak our lingo!!). And I gotta pay for their iPhones!! They're illegal and therefore not even worth 2 pesos. Since the government has no chutzpah, let's all dust off our white hoods to hide behind and throw 'me out one by one.

Not true! The US deports illegals on a regular basis. They don't have broadcast it every time.

And not all Hispanics are illegals. Do what you want in your country and we'll do what we have
to in ours. We will not be intimidated by threats.
