Please, not a discussion on whether or not you like local food?this is only for the aficionados :)

So, where are your favourite comedors in the Sosua/Cab area?

My faves are:
Coastal?really good kitchen, very little so pita! (this is important for me as am a little allergic to so pita)
Tropical in Sosua
'Maria's which is way out past Cabarete East, underneath the big cellphone antenna.
BuenComida on the way to Maria's, just before the Texaco

Any other good ones that I'm missing?

imma let finish but ... :)

cannot say about sosua/cabarete. but i am a huge fan of maimon food, we always go to parada de playa. fresh, clean, tasty. i also enjoy, and i know it sounds dumb, a buffet in la sirena. i like the choices. and la sirena in POP is the only one in the north zone (including santiago) that has chef on the premises. we also enjoy a small local place serving sammiches, burgers and so on, on the side of the small football stadium, off luis ginebra (POP). they have a sandwich called terminator. pretty massive :)

There's a great restaurant next to Tropical, can't remember the name of it, have fabulous yucca patties! To the left of Tropical facing the entrance.

Are you talking about the place next to the coastal gas station / mini market between Sosua and Cabarete? i hope so. Dont know the name of it and I forget the name of the owner, but its attached to the coastal. A great place for good food. Prices i think are terrific. I have eaten there and taken out several times. Even when i was having guests over, I have ordered takeout for up to 8 people. Can't say enough about the pleasant dude that owns it, the food or the service. I highly recommend it.

Exactly that place! He is very popular because he cooks really nice dominican food at a fair price.

El Caminante in Islabon - fabulous camerones, langoustine and parrot fish in creamy garlic sauce - as good as Papi's and at less than half the price. Ate lunch there again yesterday and two meals and two drinks each and the bill was RD$ 1210 - would definitely recommend it.

I like this restaurant called El Caminante II about halfway between Cabarete and Sabaneta on the ocean side of the road, - nice selection of simple seafood dishes, Dominican style. Then there is a grilled chicken place at the entrance to Callejon de La Loma in Cabarete that is pretty decent too.
