if it is 150 each way it will be a very deserted highway. I hope motorcycles are free.

The trucks that jams the traffic on Av. Estrella Sadhala will save more than that on their way from Linea Noroeste and Puerto Plata to SD...

Plus the time as on a rush hour it will take about a hour and half just to cross the city, I believe using this belt line it will be not more than 15 minutes in order to make it from Canabacoa to villa Gonzalez...

I would pay the toll if I would be driving like I used to from STI to Puerto Plata.

The Balaguer era road projects in Santiago are not really done with yet. If you look on google earth you can see that the highway is supposed to continue to the south from the villa Gonzalez intersection to Ave. Tamboril. There is also the Hermanas Mirabal extension to complete.

Was this toll always the plan? It seems like a LOT for a Dominican to pay. They should rename it the Gringo Bypass.

I welcome gringo bypass! I would spend double of that much as long as I don't have to pass slow moving camiones and gestimate how fast on coming yipeta is doing. If the traffic would let me do consistent 120 km/h it would probably save me more money on gasolina anyways.

I agree. The toll will make the bypass faster and safer with less traffic for those of us who can afford it.

Motorbikes won't have to pay, they don't pay to go through any of the others as far as I know.

Mr C will be there taking photos, so SMILE!

On the east side (la vega side) it begins at Autopista Duarte and Ave Hispanoamerico heads in a northerly direction turning west as it passes through the northern part of the city then starts in a south west direction until it connects with the Autopista Joaquim Balaguer about halfway between Santiago and villa Gonzales. Both auto pistas are the same one that goes to Santo domingo

it's normal to require a receipt for toll roads, all companies require that. and it's not excessive amount of money if it saves time in santiago traffic.

I agree with you. Today on tv they were interviewing drivers on the new road. A couple comented that it was a good thing to get trucks off the city streets but for them it was too expensive and they would keep going the old way. It will take years and lots of education to get the old dog to do a new trick....even if it makes sense
