On Sat March 1 at 2 pm at The Meeting Place in Puerto Plata Author AJ Sidransky presents his book ?Forgiving Maximo Rothman?, a murder mystery that takes us back to the establishment of Sosua?s Jewish community. In 1940 a small group of harried-Jewish refugees from Nazi-occupied Europe arrived in Sosua. Having lost everything ? their jobs, houses, safety, families ? they accepted the Dominican Republic?s offer to take them in as farmers. This story is the backdrop to mystery novel Forgiving Maximo Rothman by AJ Sidransky. The story spans 65 years and three continents and reveals the little-know story of the day-to-day life of the Jewish settlement in the untamed areas of the Dominican Republic. Sidransky?s aunt and uncle were among the original settlers and he has drawn heavily on their and other settlers experiences. Come hear more of this compelling story and meet the author.
