Recently, Augusto V?squez of TV show Palpitaciones de Musavisi?n (TV Puerto Plata) interviewed Mayor Ilana Neumann of Sos?a about the problems in the PRD and her possible re-election in 2016.
Currently there are all kinds of conflicts in the opposition party PRD (Dominican Revolutionary Party) which threatens to tear the party apart. It involves conflicts between supporters of Hip?lito Mej?a and Miguel Vargas. The mayor said she was too busy with the administrative matters in Sos?a and doesn't have the time for the PRD conflicts. Besides, there are disagreements in all political parties, and they often lead to a positive change. Regarding her possible re-election in 2016, she has not yet determined if she will go for it. Before she accepted the job as Mayor of Sos?a, she was deputy for the province of Puerto Plata. As mayor, she has more direct contact with the population, and she likes that more. She sees as her main task, in addition to the promotion of education, sport and culture, the increase of employment for the people of the beach resort. The re-election is not yet on her priority list.
