I hestitated on where to post this. Perhaps it belongs in the Spanish forum? Living? I do not know.

To introduce my favorite song .., by Silvio Rodriguez who is a Cuban, living here in Santo Domingo, in exile,. to show you on the Coast, a bit about why those of us who live in Santo Domingo appreciate living in Santo Domingo, and to also introduce the use of the subjunctive. The song is Ojala,,, which every Dominican in the Capital can, most likely, sing.

I first heard it in Puerto Rico,, sung by this group, Fiel y la Vega https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duav5DzOaKo&list=RDDuav5DzOaKo

I spent years dancing to it, trying to decode the words. I looked at many bad translations and finally found a good one.. here

Ojal? by Silvio Rodriguez – Lyrics in Spanish and in English | to be fluent

Now, watch this song a bit in action.. this video must have been taken 40 years ago, in a stadium of perhaps 70,000 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u80ocuvZxmY&list=RDu80ocuvZxmY

And now.. watch this one, taken recently in concert in Zona, about 15 minutes from my apartment.

I didn't know Silvio was in exile, I thought he was still a supporter of the Castro regime.
