From today's Sosua News. This sounds like something that is going on all over the country.

Tuesday, May 21, officers of the National Police accompanied by officials of the tax department closed 32 lottery offices in the province of Puerto Plata. They are called 'Banca' or lottery offices located in Altamira, Imbert, Montellano and in Sos?a. The aforementioned lottery offices benefit illegally from a lottery in which they didn't pay taxes on the turnover. During the raid on the lottery offices the police confiscated computers, 'Inversores', fans and furniture. But nobody has been arrested during the raid.

Barahona has at least 100 Bancas, most with the M&M los Mellizos logo. Whatever they do, there are never more than a couple of people just sitting there, playing dominoes, listening to merengues or chatting. It seems to be a tie between cellphone vendors and bancas as to who has the most sellers.

My friend say it happens all the time!
He figures some of his "Bancas" have been closed, and will be "OPENED" in a day or two.
"Money Talks" he said.
Just a cost of doing business here!
CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC

"XO" doen't matter how many "Customers" you see in a "Banca".
"Bancas" are just there to launder money!
