Tolerance, compassion, empathy, solidarity - we don't want none of that crap.

Its cultural imperialism plain and simple.

Celebrating gays is not the Domincan way and as an ambassador he should be more culturally sensitive.

It's not like gays are prosecuted here, they are accepted well enough.

There are gay people everywhere, in about the same proportions. If you do not like this. complaining here will be useless. I suggest you write the State Department and suggest they send Ted Nugent down to be ambassador. Or maybe Franklin Graham or perhaps a Dynasty Duck.

Perhaps he has the approval of the State Department.

Being gay is hardly the same thing as the intifada. At most, he is merely promoting tolerance.
Not throwing rocks at Jews, not blowing up buses, just tolerance.

IMO it's about pushing your personal agenda without taking into account the political ramifications. The diputado explained it perfectly.

I don' care if he is gay or not, that's his personal life. He should not mix his personal life with his politcal function.

Exactly.

"Wally's" assignment was stupid and apt to alienate a friendly nation.
Another example of clumsy US diplomacy.

Why not send the queer to Denmark, the Netherlands or other permissive countries?

Wally is also a poster boy of the gay movement in that he will do anything to promote his agenda, including lying.

I am referring to the statement that he made that he was not going to the DR to promote his gay agenda, even though that is how he won his position from Obama in the first place, then followed that up with marrying his "partner" on the eve of his arrival to the DR then bringing said individual with him, even to official gatherings representing the US, and worse shortly after his arrival meets with the gay Dominican "leaders".

On topic in this case does not include opinions about gay lifestyle or what caused them to be gay to begin with. This is the government forum, posts should be in that vein.

Chip will always be the underdog when it comes to certain subjects.

You should be moderating the US embassy. At least in this case where it clearly looks like the Ambassador is pressing his unpopular personal homosexual agenda instead of the usual matters of state. Unless homosexuality has now become an important matter of state to the US government..

Well, it's just not as much fun to talk about other things. Like his visit last month to Beyond the Horizons or the month before to Santiago and the Codevi industrial park on the Haitian border, etc etc

There's no denying his appointment has ruffled some feathers... and I wonder about the motivations of his appointment. But can't the same be said for appointing women as Secretary of State when dealing with certain Arab nations, or a Jewish female, a black female, a Catholic, jimmy Carter's appointment of a civil rights activist Andrew Young as ambassador to the United Nations, etc. At some point you just have to appoint people you deem right for the job. Everyone alienates someone somewhere.

These things are exactly what he should be doing as a US Ambassador and not trying to further his own personal sexual ideals. What he has done IMHO is disrespected his position and lessened his effectiveness as an ambassador.

Let's say the US had appointed a Hindu ambassador. Would they be attacked for organising an event commemorating Diwali and inviting representatives of the local Hindu community? Would they be accused of promoting a Hindu agenda?
