Is there anything else like the Hard Rock Sports Casino in the DR? I'm looking at a zillion screens w/every live sports event possible, while at once posting to dr1. I'm watching hockey and baseball after enjoying a great horse race. I tipped a guy a U.S. fiver and he gave me a bunch of complimentary coupons for free food and drinks. And, and, , , , the Rangers just scored. YEAH!

There are sports bars on the north coast. Kahunas for example in Cabarete. ( I do like yacht chef's response, but realize that variety is the spice of life.)

Not speaking for yachtchef, but you don't have to come ashore to have an internet connection anymore..

The Restruant inside the Casino, the "Super Club", the expensive one is really good... We had Atlantic Salmon there and the Chica at the time had the lamb... Did they give you coupons for that restaurant? If they did I'm jealous.. :surprised

Can enjoy these items much much cheaper in Santiago....the Hard Rock is a total waste of money....outrageous pricing. And only accepts US$ for drinks at a highway robbery rate

Absolutely Tango. It felt a little like home. I'd been missing F2F conversations in American English.

I don't think in Santo Domingo there is a place dedicated to sports but during special events people normally attend to Friday's, Hooters, and SteakHouse

Stayed there 3 nights for the Marc Anthony concert. Was not really impressed. To even see a beach you need to walk really far or take a tram. There was only one bar that even had a view of the beach and it was staffed by idiots using 2 11 dollar computer speakers to try and fill the beach with music. It sounded worse than even normal dominican loud music. It was unbearable to even sit at the bar to have a beer.

The Brasilian restaurant was ok, and the outdoor terrace was decent, though I heard that burned down. The cafe style place was not even up to normal Hard Rock Cafe stadards. For 350 a night, I don't think decent buffalo wings is asking all that much.

A few weeks later we went to montego bay and stayed at a Holiday Inn resort. It was way better. As we got out of taxi we could see the beach from reception. Our room had gorgeous view, and a place that served good jerk chicken a 3 minute walk away.

Any more than three days and I would have been bored beyond belief. We actually looked forward to stopping at Wendy's in PC on the way home. Not a good sign.

With such conflicting reviews (and the first being how important watching sports is) I don't see much to recommend the location for me. AI resorts are like cruise ships that don't go anywhere. I dislike them in general.

From DR1 Forum, member TJMURRAY posted that Five Star International had about 50 screens showing sports.

I was outside Five Star International last March. Secure parking. Located between the Hilton Hotel and Vesuvio Restaurant on the Malecon, Santo Domingo. You can bet on sports at Five Star International.

The all inclusives in Punta Cana and Bavaro have everything like that , but nothing beats a quaint town on the north coast for me
