you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. dominican public hospitals are free but you have to go there to receive the service. the article mentions she is mentally ill so not likely to be able to make decisions for herself. i would rather ask where is her family and why the journalist took pictures but did not offer to take her to the hospital.

When I was with my daughter in El Dario they brought in an old lady who's nails had grown so long they had grown into the fleshh of her hand palm.
Apparentely she lives in a some kind of home and they had waited a long time taking care of the old lady.
When they opened the hand I almost puked because of the stench.
The nails on het feet were about 2 inches long!!!
