I myself think it is a good money maker... of course you need a few dollars to start... a promotion team...
let's see 6 older guys paying 800$ month =4800x45. 2.4 million a year...more or less.......
then u got staff....food...car...fuel..lights...water...mortgage/rent... but there is a little $ there......
of course there" wood" be other expenses...but evan if they got 650$ month in d.r. it can be done...

What is your $4,800 x 45?
Is that "Rum Math"?

Care to "Explain" your math a litle more please.
I calculate it would take 250 older people paying $800 a month, 12 months a year to reach $2,400,000.

the next hence is to go to a larger residence , small hotel etc and try to get 25-35 retirees... now your bring in more than a quarter mil u.s.....do the math during the day....at least before 5 somewhere....
now is the time to start that...the us grey mkt is becoming larger and larger everyday...

I know we have had a lot of discussions about housing for the elderly here and ran across this link

Oasis Palace Residence | Retirement home

I suppose that it is French, since the French is perfect and the English, not so much.

Does anyone know if it ever got off the ground?

I just wondered if anyone up there knew if THIS particular project was actually up and running? Perhaps the early morning folks on coffee will do better with the question than the late night folks on rum. Or maybe not.

I'm reading this during the day without rum and I still do not understand but most of all we all want to know where we can get 45 pesos to a US dollar. ;)

Post number 7 said it's no longer a retirement home as of a few months ago

thanks Anna.. I did not have any rum but did not really get it that it was the same place. Too bad that they gave up on the idea but one can see that they figured that they could get the $800 a month without any of the add on services for the elderly.

You might want to see the movie "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" to see how this business model might play out.:classic:

But I agree, there is a need for such a facility, and the target audience just keeps getting larger with every passing day.

I don't know about the project itself, but the pics are definitely of Las Canas of La Mulata Road in the Sosua area. Have they switched up their marketing plan?
