Is this a bad idea? Will they even be open on non-holidays between Christmas and New Year's?

My experience is that the Christmas/New Year period is generally not a good work period anywhere in the DR. This year with Christmas and New Years coming during the middle of week, i would not expect much to get done. The day before Chrstmas, or may the day and half is likely to be time off so employees can travel to be with their families Then Friday, the day after Christmas, may also be closed. Same during the New Years week.

If you can pick another time, I would highly recommend you do it.

Call and ask what days they're closed. Everything takes longer (if that's possible) in government offices during xmas.

I just can't think of a reason to go in that period...
unless absolutely necessary...

Thanks for the advice. I'll avoid going around Christmas time. Now are there any specific days of the week to avoid visiting Migracion (due to more frequent system outages, for example)?
