Was recently in Punta Cana. Objectives were:
1) Get some beach swimming in to recover from a bad cold.
2) Check out what is new in the area
3) Check out the Punta Cana Tri, the annual triathlon event.

Did some swimming from the markers set up at the Casa Club in the Punta Cana Resort & Club. Had lunch there. So relaxing. Food was good, views too. My cold is better.

Visited the Bavaro Adventure Park. Forget Disney, take the kids and the teenagers there. Very well set up. Worth spending an entire day there. It is "extreme sports" with the safety element making it easy for anyone in the family. Great trails cut through real jungle, but done with such attention to details it was pleasant even in the hot morning sun. Definitely should be on people's to do list visiting Punta Cana. Zip lining, zorba, paintball, mountain biking, bungee jumping, Segway riding?

Had lunch at Tronco Beach Restaurant. Would call it an oasis outside of all the heat of the Los Corales-BAvaro beach area. It is down the street from Flavio Acuna spa. When we were there on Sunday for lunch there was only another family. Had the fideua, delicious and the creme br?l?e. Would return.

Also checked out El Chirinquito Restaurant, also in the area. Food seemed good (didn't eat there), but the owner seemed overwhelmed by a full house. Would recommend going off hours, or doing as he said, ordering take out.

Checked out Coco Bongo Disco-Show at Downtown Punta Cana (Boulevard Turistico corner Coco Loco crossing), that is opening 20 November for presentations to the trade. The Mexican operators say it will have a very similar program to their successful disco-show operation in Cancun, Mexico. They will open from 10pm to 4am.

Next door, Lorenzillo's, the lobster house from Mexico, is opening this season. They will breed their own lobsters on site. Also coming to Downtown Punta Cana this season is La Calle del Hambre, a collection of restaurants that will be open until 5am in the morning and will cater to those seeking a place to crash after a late night party.

Re the Triathlon? that is a tough race. People were happy to crash on Punta Cana beach!
