Not all but most of the people that have run into serious issues are engaging in activities that they will not even think about doing in their home country. RIP

Fue la mata de coco.

Me thinks, that there aren't any coconut trees either (to which the blame can be put). ;)

With the electric company protesters leaving trees in the road, this accident begs the question... was the coconut palm vertical or horizontal?

What a dumb place for a tree to decide to take up residence. It's always sad when someone succumbs to the limitations of the human body.

RIP. I hope you enjoyed your time here and your next life will be at least twice as long and rewarding.

How many have you been at an expat bar, seen expats ****ed out of their tree and then get in their car and drive home. Something they probably would think twice about doing back in the old country but not here in the DR. And then we are surprised when expats get killed in vehicle accidents and we wonder what the heck is going on here in the DR. Easy, its called liquor.

Not too fast

The article states that the deslizamiento (had to look that up) made him loose control of his motor, that's why he hit the coconut tree. If that is true, sadly, it will happen again.

The Formula

... the deslizamiento (...) made him loose control of ...

{deslizamiento + perder control} = most used term by Dominican 'journalists' to describe accidents in which 'nadie tiene la culpa' or nobody knows how and why it happened.
