Had the Bologna House Pizza.
Was delicious.
Contender for best pizza in Sosua.
Heard there were new owners and mixed reviews but I think the new owners
have improved on the pizza.
Also the deserts are to die for. Had the chocolate raspberry cake. Made in house.
The decorations for Christmas especially the huge tree make for a festive outing.

Bologna changed their chefs after first purchasing the restaurant. I, too, am extremely happy with the food at Bologna. I agree that it is even better then when the previous owners had the restaurant.

One night, they delivered food. The doorbell rang about 25 minutes later. They came back with an assortment of desserts as a thank you for my business. Another time, I wanted something special that was not on the menu. I described it. They asked me to repeat what I wanted several times to make sure they had it right, and then they delivered it just as I wanted.

I order from them 2 -3 times a week now and am never disappointed.

Wow, great to hear. I thought it back slide a little. I will try it next week. I gave up when it took 45+ minutes for a pizza.

You will have a hard time deciding between choices. If I recall, they had tiramisu, flan, 3 chocolate cake, red velvet, chocolate raspberry and cheese cake. They have a great baker or pastry chef.

When I'm in town I always keep one menu in the car and one at home. I don't remember the service being slow in previous years, but I do know it's fairly quick now. I've also noticed the personalized service lately, with them saying my name and address before I even finish the phone order. It's nice to start seeing that level of service in Sosua.

I should branch out more, but between Bologna and my favorite dominican place, they're about the only places I eat or get take out.

They have better ovens than most places in the DR, assuming the Dominoes in the DR are also using tunnel conveyor belt ovens with impinger jets. Takes out the guesswork and better than steel deck ovens. Stone deck or refractory ovens are the way to go, though I also like grilled pizza.

Agreed the oven might be better, but if it is the same quality of ingredients as their pizza in the US (or Santo Domingo where I had it once) , no thanks.

I dont find the pizza that bad from Scotch and Sirloin in Sosua, they have the wood fired brick oven, I'd give it at least a 7.5 outta 10

dominoes in DR "bakes" their "pizza" by tossing it in a lavatory. easily the worst pizza i ever had in my life.

I have not been around this area for quite awhile so I ask anyone if the Pizza place on the other side of Bologna one block towards the Casino is still open? There was an Italian owner there, and he had very good pizza also.

Then you haven't been to the US midwest, where they make pizza with something called provel and cut round pizza into squares.

I'd stay clear of opening a shop that only did pizza in the DR. Too much competition from ppl who use fake cheese and drive price and quality down and propane/fuel is a big cost. Pretty much anyone can make bad pizza.

Speaking of pizza, has anyone tried the NY pizza place across from the little Playero?
I like they sell slices. I haven't tried it because they seem to sit out in the heat.

I had pizza in Estonia. I passed on the pizza with borscht.. Otherwise not bad, but more like a pizza burrito.

The Dominican pizza I've tried had thick biscuit like crusts with a bit of bland sauce and fake cheese. Sadly, I've had worse in the US. It what you see in gas stations around here. Yes. Gas stations that sell pizza. There are two within 10 miles of me that sell pizza for a couple bucks a slice.
