A new Jumbo hypermarket is currently under construction in La Vega, right where Rivera and Rivas avenues meet, near the Expresso Vegano bus station. The store should be open for business some time next year.

....and a Jumbo is also currently under construction in Moca.

Hopefully, competition will help drive product price and quality for both locations.

The Burger King that was on the corner was razed and the land will be part of the parking lot.

Across the street is the Expreso Vegano station. On the left side of the first photo you can even see one of the buses in the parking.

It seems it will be a nice looking store instead of a copy & paste big box type. It should open in a few weeks.

Not too long ago CCN, the parent company of Jumbo, did this documentary in Spanish showing all the interesting things to see and do in La Vega.

Nice to see a Spanish Company continuing to prosper here in the DR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their "Super Mercados National", and other "BRANDS" are also doing great!!!!
I spend about a million pesos a year with them.

The store from the air:

The investors, management, and the local priest to sanctify the store and make sure the grace of God ensures its success. (Most inaugurations from the private sector and all inaugurations of the government includes a Catholic prayer/mass. A long held Spanish tradition.)
