Mar?a Marte (from Jarabacoa) arrived in Spain 2003 and started washing dishes and cleaning in a hair salon.
Today she is the only female cook in Madrid with 2 Michelin stars and supervises 30 employees.

Dominican is winner of Best Chef Award in Spain
The jury on the National Gastronomy Awards for 2014 in Spain has chosen Dominican immigrant Maria Marte of Restaurante El Club Allard in Madrid as Chef of the Year 2014.
The awards, which are organized by the Spanish Royal Academy of Gastronomy, will be presented on 8 June 2015 at the NH Euro building during an event headed by Spanish Industry, Energy and Tourism Minister Jose Manuel Soria.
