They finally finished the rehabilitation of this highway that I think had not received maintenance since its expansion to 4 lanes was completed at the end of rhe 1990's or beginning of the 2000's. This highway connects Santiago with the Luperon interchange in Navarrete where people heading for Puerto Plata switch to the Luperon road.

The official re-inauguration will be on Feb 20.

Also glad to hear it is finished. It seemed to take forever.

The poor decision to work on multiple sections of the road, very slowly, in parallel rather than start at one end and work to the other caused many hazardous areas to exist rather than just one. And there was not sufficient warning before you would come up on a section of the road that was blocked or had machinery parked in a lane. I hope it did not cause any deaths or injuries to those traveling the road because of how they mis-managed the work.
