a part of the problem is doing a surgery in a small sh*tty clinic that has no capacity to help patients when things go seriously wrong: cardiac arrest, breathing difficulties and so on. no trained personnel to deal with emergencies, no equipment, no experience, no clue what to do. i would have no problem doing plastic surgery here: in a regular hospital, with experienced plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist who knows his/her job.

this makes me pretty ill. Did you see the picture of the young woman? How lovely she was? And well,.. ok.. they had the permission of her father? WHAT is up with that? Well, I guess it means that he cannot sue. But imagine.. at 24.. to have a butt implant as a present for your boyfriend?

I reiterate my mantra here: unless its trauma or acute, travel 2 hours to the U.S. You will be able to obtain a much higher level of care.Skilled Doctors, Anesthesiologists, better more advanced equipment ,facilities medications etc.

The girl that died from a butt implant is Dominican, why would she travel to The USA?.
There are many "good" doctors here, if you do your homework, just don't get new nalgas @ an OB/GYN.

unless I read it incorrectly - the woman traveled here to have the surgery

nonetheless, read my earlier post...........you can die in the US too

Liposuction can suck the life from you
Sadly , it seems young girls are the ones seeking the procedure the most

re-read my post --- 18 yrs old and a fat chin, etc after losing a lot of weight...dead

Do these procudures have a lifespan? I would think that a tummy tuck would not last long if you continue to lay around and eat.

Articles give contradictory information about Ely Pena. One says she went to inquire about butt reduction "Varios meses despu?s que la joven se hizo la cirug?a, vino al Instituto para reducirse los gl?teos y eliminarse una gelatina, " the other says she want to replace a butt implant she didn't like how it looked.

According to those articles, Ely Pena did come from the USA. The Dominican woman who passed away was having liposculpture.

My wife and I have had an ongoing feud over her wanting a little "work". She saw these multiple deaths and it scared her. Now she is doing it my way - in the gym and "starving" as she puts it.

Surgery these days is a status symbol. Anything so you can say you have had some form of surgery to enhance something. Have you noticed the fad in DR with people who do not need braces getting coloured tins on fhier teeth, with absolutely no straightening wires connected.

Any surgery, anywhere can be risky. Sh*t happens all the time. Remember Joan Rivers ?? Not because you are in the D.R. that all the surgeons are butcher or morons.... I had plastic surgery last summer here in Puerto Plata and nothing happened... The doctor had me do a lot of pre-surgery exams, X-rays and visits with specialists to make sure I was healthy for the surgery. But even though, I could have died on the table anyway... Like I said, sh*t happens all the time...

I am surprise we don?t read about more death from plastic surgery in DR, because it is a regular topic in NYC Dominican salons. I know a few Dominican women who disappeared for a month or so and came back looking different.
Depending on the procedure; you have keep up the maintenance or it will sag, leak or move around.

Much verity to the reply above, no much to say thereafter.

Sadly, its the fault of the women pursuing some unrealistic beauty standard, and putting their lives at risk in the process.....If the women were not demanding these "enhancement" services, the cons who take advantage of them would be out of business. May the young ladies RIP.......

There are jokes about tax returns time on fb and Dominicana disappearing and coming back skinny. At least once a year, there is one not coming back at all. Sad.
