They will really have to do something about the airport at Punta Cana if we are going to have many more tourists . The car parking is way way too small and the lines waiting for entry through immigration and customs are horrible even if there have been a few changes recently ..Not a good welcome for people who have flown for hours.
There are so many other problems associated with this rapid development of the Punta Cana and Bavaro area.. where will all the water come from for all the new bedrooms ,what will happen about the sewerage and where will all the new staff stay

It looks like they are owner of structures leased to be operated by AM Resorts (Now, Secrets brands)

Assets | Grupo Martin?n

Most probably they will build a structure that will be operated by other hotel management company.

Right now in Uvero Alto 2 sites have been cleared for new hotels. Breathless is going to double their rooms to 1500. Excellence is supposed to start clearing in July and building in August this year. Thats basically 4 new hotels plus there are 2 more signs on the road from hotel companies that are planning new builds as well. All said there is supposed to be close to 4000 new rooms within 2 years.
If you do the math at an average of 70% occupancy thats over 3 million addition people per year. Thats also based that the existing hotels keep there existing occupancy rates.

Your math is way off.

4000 rooms at 70% that's roughly 460,000 tourists per year, not 3 million.
Assumption: 70% average occupancy rate, 5 nights average stay*, 2.25 pax per room

Based on predominantly North American public that frequents the mentioned resorts

If we take 2012 average stay data of 8 nights then it would be 290,000 more tourists per year

those problems do not concern owners /investors etc...they believe that it will be fixed/solved by the gubmint...

so a few of these hotels will fail/be sold/change hands etc...because d.r. is not going to warrant that kind of numbers... airlines have shrunk # of flights to increase rev$... wait for the cuban hotels to open....

The second word gets out that raw sewage is draining onto the beaches turn out the lights because the party's over.

The Gringo, although relatively motionless when vacationing, breaks the sound barrier when leaving if they see raw sewage and trash on the beaches.

DR officials should be very careful with too much development, my fren.

Ya my math was way off
4000 rooms averge people per room 3 = 12,000 visitors
12, 000 visitors ? 52 weeks = 624,000 people
at 70% thats 436,000 people
I use 3 as an average as some of these will be family resorts and some are adult only.
Most people stay 1 week so it's just an average.
My first numbers where cocktail induced.
