Take the new Hwy towards SD. Just past the airport stay to the right at the toll booths and go along the service road.
About a mile or 2 on your right is the toll Hwy to Samana, take it. When you reach the end make a right and look for
the toll road on your left to Las Terrranas. It will be some miles down the road, but you cannot miss it. Or you can go the longer route with the free road, but the toll road is very good.

The easiest part to screw up is missing the exit once you have passed the toll by the airport. Here's a map of the area. The exit on to the service road is only about 150 meters after the toll plaza. Once on the service road, it's about 3 km to the highway heading north.

it's the smallest sign to point the way off to the right.....

very close after the toll booth

The wife and I have been the victims of small or poor signage throughout out travels in the DR. So many dream of moving to the country with the idea of opening a bar/restaurant. Someone would do well to open a sign shop!

Sounds like the new highway may be the best for the 1st trip. Really appreciate the input received from everyone on this one.

If you check out the map of the Dominican Republic on 'Google Earth', you can follow your journey from PC to Las Terrenas quite clearly and in particular if you zoom in at the toll booth near Las Americas you can see the slip road off to the left just after the toll booth which is signposted but poorly and which you must take to get onto Juan Pablo 3 highway to Samana.

I can't imagine why you take any other route....

very pretty, fast...... about 400/450 pesos, then 500 more for the Samana/LT leg

The LT autopista is absolutely adjacent to the airport entry

Can't miss it.
Go right at the end of the toll road until you another booth which is empty
then the airport circle

The 500 peso toll road is right there

want to avoid that ?

continue along until you see the LT signs (free road) pointing left
You'll pass donP's barrio......... and enter LT 500 pesos richer.
