If only the Yanks would stop playing politics and extradite his ass, they would be doing and immense favor to this country in the process <<sigh>>.

The US extraditing an ex president like Leonel would cause far more problems than it could solve.
That would be a prime example of the Yanks "playing politics".

The last time the US did this it was Manuel Noriega, and there were actual dead Americans involved.

As your own Jefferson would put, the tree of liberty needs occasionally the blood of both patriots and tyrants in order to flourish. There would be some dead, true, but the blow to the cause of political impunity would be immense. It would be more complete if the extradition thing were to be coupled with confiscation of his assets, though. Specially that monument to thievery that goes by the name of Funglode (in popular parlance, Funrobe).

I saw billboard with Leonel somewhere on the road in Samana. He seems like a top notch, stand up guy. his big smile and moustache seemed to iluminate the road for all tired drivers.

I am pretty sure that extraditing a former Dominican president that no Americans have ever heard was accused of anything, and a lot of Dominicans voted for, would be quite unpopular in both countries, and would almost certainly cause more problems than it could conceivably solve.

Conceited and Presumptuous

Who is he anyway?
All right, an EX-president and now the president of the PLD.

But he claims the privilege to speak to the nation like as he were still Mr. President.

How come this man gets to speak on a chain of radio and television channels?
{Telemicro, CDN, Teleradioam?rica, Telefuturo, Canal 25, Canal 16, Teleimpacto, Telenort, Teleantillas, Telesistema, Coral, 25 de Santiago y Color Visi?n and a network of radio stations}

Expresidente Fern?ndez hablar? pa?s el lunes por cadena radio y televisi?n | AlMomento.net

i do not know why are you so bother by this.
miguel also made similar discourses in the past:
El Caribe ? Miguel Vargas hablar? al pa?s ma?ana
Miguel Vargas hablar? esta noche al pa?s
as well as hipolito:
Listin Diario - El peri?dico de los dominicanos
Hip?lito Mej?a habla hoy al pa?s sobre su futuro pol?tico - DiarioLibre.com

they speak as presidents of their respective parties, addressing issues affecting the party at a national level. leonel will do exactly the same. i may tune in to listen to him, even. it's like a language class, really.
