Right Here HB!

Hi HB, I'm here, and still struggling! Found a site that teaches Spanish phrases with audio and video. Doing ok.....Wife, Lisa....is doing really well in her classes (don't know if I mentioned it, but she is taking classes three times per wk and three hrs per session....very intense)she's carrying a grade of approx 90% and is coming close to graduating. She's really grasping the language and enjoying it......would not be doing so well if she was'nt enjoying it.....also her time on the island and other spanish speaking parts of the world(carribbean)has helped her tremendously. BTW....Thanks for calling me a nice fellow....lol. I don't get that very often here on this board! Take Care! P.S. Those phrases you put down on the last post....well stuff like that really help me. Also do you know how spanish is in the degree of difficulty in learning it? I heard Chiniese is one of the most easiest and english being one of the hardest! Any truth to this, that you, or anyone else knows of ? It would be interesting to know which is the hardest......not an opinion.....but some facts on this matter!

Its Time HB

Hey HB: Did anybody tell you that the holidays are over and you can't go from house to house with that Santa outfit mooching drinks or in the alternative, did I do those translations when I was drinking?

For Doug - Neither an opinion nor is a fact...just experience

Doug, as to your question: Which is the easiest and hardest language to learn? I hardly think that Chinese is the easiest or that English is the hardest. The written Chinese language has over a thousand characters in which one must master while English words are made up of just 26 alphabets. I speak both Chinese and English though my Chinese still requires plenty of improvement for it to be considered in the proficient level. My English...well, I will leave that up to you to decide...if you can decide from my written word. The Chinese language is, also divided according to the province you are from, into several hundred dialects...each vastly different from the other. So when you say that you've heard that Chinese is the easiest to learn...which particular Chinese dialect are you referring to? Mandarin being the main Chinese language is probably what you are referencing, correct? Well, it so happens that Mandarin is one of the toughest to learn. I speak Mandarin as well as a total of 4 other dialects. Was it easy to learn them? Not at all. I also speak English. Was it easy to learn English? Yes!
I applaud those on this board who've volunteered to teach Spanish to those non-speaking ones. I for one, will be tuning in daily to check. My Spanish is slowing improving but, still deplorable. No one hearing me speak it could do much else but, laugh! ;)
