I am trying to find the correct spelling for the tree which has flaming red blossoms, thousands of small petals. I believe it is called flamboy?n, but I don't know if I am spelling it right. I am also curious as to whether there is an English name for it.

Thanks, Mike

The Flamboyan is known as the Royal Poinciana in English. It is found all over the Caribbean even though it is originally from Africa. It blooms in the Late winter or early spring in the DR. Later in the spring here in South FLorida. I have planted 2 in my yard and are already giving great shade after only 3 years.
