I am wondering what the best methods to ship from the DR are? Air shipping is quite expensive (for everything).

Is there any shipping information anyone has?

I have looked into shipping of the rock, and the only thing I have found is that you need to ship by container......I wanted to ship a barrel back to the States and 95% of the shippers only receive shipments and don't ship out of the country.....

Warning - please DO NOT USE Rosa Del Monte - They stole, yes stole a rare coffee table made of Murano Glass - worth several thousand dollars and destroyed a glass vitrine valued at over $7,000 that was crated and moved prior three times across the USA over the past 25 years. The insurance docs were not properly filed by them (perhaps our fault for not closely inspecting the driver team) and as a result we were out well over $12k and worse than the money, lost pieces we truly appreciated. Did not sue as my attorney called it recreational litigation and assured me I would spend thousands and only aggravate myself. Owners of RDM did not have the decency to address the situation - wish I knew how to post a photo of the vitrine before and after as it was truly a disaster. Blood boiling again just thinking about it after 5 years. Can't look at a RDM truck without BP rising.

that's the sort of thing that can be helpful on this forum

the who not to use is as important as the who to use suggestion

There are plenty to choose from... nobody needs aggravation.

My last shipper was a recommendation...it didn't really work out
A lot of broken things, poor packing and rough treatment... some repairable, some not.

My preferred shipper is Awilda in the Bronx (Corona actually)
Never a problem over 8 yrs.

I've also heard horror stories about Rosa del Monte from many of Mr. AE's co-workers at the casino, I've posted about it before.

WW, we also had problems with Camden, we're back with Embarque Bella Vista again. It wasn't worth the few dollars saved. My husband gave them a piece of his mind over what happened to your stuff too, not that it did any good. :(

to ginux1 ... did I miss somewhere in the USA you intend to ship from ? I have used - Carmen Cargo Express, Orlando & Miami, Samuel was my contact and he did a wonderful job at shipping heavy & bulky furniture. Next is Awilda in Corona Queens , they just picked up Furniture at a custom wood manufacturing plant in Woodside Queens & shipped it down to Cabarete, also Bulky items. And lastly some small things is Embarque Jarabacoa in Freeport NY. I have contact info for all of them if you need

If you have a large shippment consider a 20' or 40' container - supervise the packing yourself yourself, lock it and have it shippedby a company like BM Cargo who will coordinate door to door delivery of the container. Call them for pricing.

I sent awilda a facebook message a month ago and they said they ship from DR to NY. They may have misunderstood though.
