Torishima wins power pump contracts in the Dominican Republic and Algeria

19 June 2015

Torishima Europe Ltd is to provide four boiler feed pumps for the Los Mina Combined Cycle Conversion Project in the Dominican Republic under an order secured from Tecnicas Reunidas SA.

This is the first time that Torishima has worked with Tecnicas Reunidas and exported pumps to the Dominican Republic.

The Los Mina Power Plant, which is located near Santo Domingo, is a simple cycle power plant with two 105MW simple-cycle natural gas-fired turbines in operation. The conversion will enable the plant to increase its capacity from 210 MW to 324 MW without using additional gas.

Now, keep in mind that the DR is aiming to reduce our use of oil for power generation to "0".

That the short to mid term solution is to employ cheaper and always leveled priced energy sources.

That plants currently using natural gas or being converted to that, including the upgrade to combined cycles, will only be employed until we create a robust DR based biomass/ethanol supply. Enough to run all power plants which today require imported raw material for electricity production. That's the long term solution to power generation and energy independance of the country.

In tandem with a true stock market for the DR, the gov will issue an IPO so that the average joe can purchase stocks. Ones which will go to fund a massive energy network for our country. Unlike a loan obtained to that end, investors need not be repaid for their initial funds invested, but the profits sharing.

As with other plans, the stocks will be offered in three denominations: DR Pesos, U.S. Dollars and Euros.

Each will have a determined number of stocks in each currency offered. That will go to pay for the share of costs on labor and goods at home, including land, etc... Which will be paid in local currency. Equipment and technology which will be paid for in U.S. dollars and equipment and other related things that will be paid for in Euros.

We can be energy independent. Keeping billions of $$$ circulating locally to our own economy's benefit.

The DR will bury all cables that need to be buried.

There will not be 24/7 power in the whole country until everybody who has electricity actually pays for it .

Future Tense

There is a lot of "will be" in PICHARDO's posts.

We will see. ;)

How will the DR make people pay for electricity? That is the single largest problem in the country after political corruption, while being part of that same problem.

Thats exactly my point windeguy that is why there will not be 24/7 Power maybe in a 100 years or so but not in my lifetime because people do not pay !! Not just the poor people the biggest abusers are the rich and politically connected.

I would not invest in Government run enterprise, anywhere in the world, and especially not in the DR (profits/dividends? Ha ha ... I can already imagine them actually paying them .... NOT!. Just look at what mess an Air France is, or for that matter to be thread-related, Electricite de France.

He also "Conveniently" left out the two new coal fired plants now being built by the DR!!!!
So much for reducing the DR's "Carbon BOOT PRINT" anytime soon.!!!!!

ps, how many movies been filmed at the new "Pinewood Studios" in Juan Dolio?????

Exactly!

That's coming... It will be political suicide for the party in administration, but it's all measured and planned with the PLD and PRD in cahoots to that aim.

The deal by Medina (PLD) and Vargas (PRD) is based on the non-stop and continued support for the master plan in the DR.

Each party backs up the entire plan and no matter who's administering the country, the plan continues.

No more shelving of gov works just because the party in power will not continue the other's.

Prepaid meters to the poor and those in the gov program of assistance.

Smart meters for the rest, which will allow for energy produced at home from solar panels or other green innovations to be sold back to the grid (for credits).

JAIL TIME FOR LAW BREAKERS.

Liens on private homes of those repeat offenders, which will be sold at public auctions and enforced via courts for unpaid interests on liens.

Apart from that, the new national ID database will block electricity thieves from any gov issued program, gov contracts, gov linked work, benefits, end of the year pay from employers, bank loans, travel bans, etc...

Political corruption will be handled soon enough. Trust me!

You must first read about the tech behind those new coal fired plants CC!

It's based on the cleanest and most advanced coal burning power plants in use today.

Apart from the fact that this is a mid term solution for the energy supply problem in the DR.

These coal fired plants can be fitted to use biomass instead in the future. All that's planned long term.

We just lack the $$$ at the moment to invest in a large scale gov/public project to produce enough ethanol/biomass to do it now.

The plan is to create the demand first, so it makes economic sense to go so large scale in the supply in the near future. Ethanol and biomass in the DR will be produced using renewable energy sources from start to end.

When the time is right, we'll post stocks on the IPO to finance the large scale investment for that energy independence we seek.

The first steps are being taken to that aim with high success.

It will be a 50/50 gov/private enterprise. The London stocks will assist the DR in going live with stocks trading in our own exchange. You can read about it elsewhere in the news.

Not enough jails.
Where would all those 'law-abiding' judges come from?
Corruption is part of this 'amazing culture'... please don't change it.

The news of anything being installed in electrical generation means the lights will be out for extended times and when they come back on it will be the same as it was before. Is Pichardo a shill for the DR tourist development department or on drugs?

Soon is the same as never regarding this topic.

The same was said about the never coming soon new cedulas that can't be faked...

The same was said about the new system that was going to continue to accept bribes to register fake IDs without need of biometrics or an existing origin from our own records...

The same was said about power generation from wind, that even pictures of the stored equipment needing repairs were posted and plenty debated. Yet there it is and more coming.

The same was said about impresoras fiscales, yet there they are.

The same was said about carrying out paperwork with the gov for biz, yet there it is.

The same was said about investments and quality of education, yet there are the major investments non-stop and the quality of the future teaching staff still being schooled overseas (it takes more than just months or a year/two to earn a degree needed there).

The same was said about the Super Tucanos not making a dent on drug flights in or out of the country. Yet the traces are counted by one hand today and going to zero soon, as the two up to latest tech radars arrive from Israel and get set up where we are today limited by drones (loaned from the USAF reapers).

Just try and keep in mind we are not a rich country. Money is tight and things aren't perfect. Yet, we're doing great work on our own and by our own.

Tax evasion and unreported taxes to the fisco in the informal sectors, represent about double the current intake of actual tax revenues taken in. When this gets corrected (e-pesos), the deficit will become a surplus and services from healthcare to Police, 911 and others from public funds will also see increased quality.

Add to that the billions spent on imported raw materials for energy production, which will be replaced by local supply.

Add to that the fact that the DR has yet to enter the medium to heavy industry in our region. High techs, etc...

But before all that happens, order must reign in the DR and that's exactly what's being done now from the roots up.

Power generation prices will come down, large investments in the grid will multiply and services will be uninterrupted for the paying resident.

The changes will be hard to notice as being applied, step by step. By the time we're halfway there, the changes will be hard to miss.

Whomever thought possible ever not to see a fake cedula again in the DR (as in one that works instead of the legit one as was the case).
