Santo Domingo.– Pawa Dominicana Airlines announced flights to the islands of St. Maarten, Aruba and Curacao starting next August from the Jose Francisco Pe?a Gomez International Airport in Santo Domingo.

The company executives said they already obtained, from the Dominican authorities, the certification and permissions required to fly.

Pawa also revealed that in a second phase it will fly to San Juan, Miami, New York and Havana. This shows the strong interest the government has in the revival of domestic airlines operating flights both domestic and from different destinations.

I give them six months, just like always before!!!
IF they actually do ever start.
Dominican airlines don't like to pay their landing fees, fuel bills, or lease payments!!!

Remember Dutch Antillies Express? Affiliate of KLM using old KLM fleet.

Flying to St Marteen and Curacoa from SDQ.

Bankrupt last year!!!!

Stick with Insel Air despite the hassle for SDQ to St Marteen , Curacao on so on because they have are resilient. Curacao based and they have figured out that 2 or 3 flights on these routes from SDO works even at cheap fare prices.

Tourism boom reveals need for more Dominican-based carriers

Santo Domingo.- Lift Air Group president Ryan Polanco agrees with establishing a national airlines to get more tourists into Dominican Republic, and to maintain air routes independent of the foreign carriers he affirms have traditionally monopolized them.

"Currently the country has the opportunity to become an enclave of international air traffic, strengthening the tourism sector, increasing imports and exports of finished products," the executive said in an emailed statement.

He said the US and European Union economic rebound has brought new tourism investments to the Dominican Republic, so it’s "crucial to develop its potential as a regional air traffic hub."

Polanco said he agrees with Dominican Republic Hotels and Tourism Association (ASONAHORES) president Simon Suarez, who hailed the start of flight operations of Pawa Dominicana Dominican Wing airlines.

Suarez said more flights are needed to meet the growing demand for seats, since 90 percent of tourists come to the country by air.

Never pay cash for a ticket on a new or failing airline: you might never see your money again.

If you charge the ticket and the airline goes broke before you fly, you can simply refuse to pay for services not received.

Spin.

PAWA is trying to work these routes based on Dominican communities in these islands. DAE tried to compete with Insel Air but there was not the paying volume to survive.

It is bull**** to suggest that the flow is inward tourists from St Marteen, Curacao and Aruba.

South Americans will come in using Copa's excellent Panama daily services.

A service to Kingston, Jamaica would make more sense and to other Caribbean islands such as Nassau.
