It was yesterday :) Many celebrations such as fireworks do take place on the 13 th (just like Christmas eve), except the military thingy on the Champs elysees.

Oh, the french never wish it to each others. I have only heard in the US by the way. And it s called 14th july holiday in France, not Bastille day.

Le Quatorze Juillet.

That really rolls off the tongue nicely. Ever so much more than July Fourteenth.

The French, being logical folk, all know that only a very few prisoners were still in the Bastille by the time they liberated them, and surely got tired of hearing that comment.
And Quatorze Juillet sounds better than Le Jour de Bastille.
