Can anyone tell me the progress of the new format? Since we are going now on 15 days, how is the pace of postings and readings in comparison to the old format?(that includes everything that has been merged)

I perceive a slowdown, but that is just a perception. Could it be compared to January of 2001?

It's going good, activity is about the same.

902 posts in 9 days, we averaged 80-100 per day on the old board.

People appear to be getting used to it and the positive feedback out ways the negative 10:1.

The password issue hasn't been raised once, as I said back in December, it's all about how you implement passwords.

Hiya CES,

I don't think that the new board is slower than the other one, on the contrary, the other one was slower and it was annoying having to click on the links each by each. I have been using vBulletin boards even before I knew of DR1, so for me this is familiar territory. I couldn't be happier.

I think that this kind of boards call for a more humorous, informal and relaxed atmosphere. Don't you think?. It's got some really cool features, and I have heard that Master Rob<IMG src="http://www.sassiessite.f2s.com/images/Smilies/worshippy.gif"> is working on some more cool stuff.

Do I have a complain? Yes, the issues discussed lately are kind of shallow, but I blame that on Post-Xmas Traumatic Disorder.

No speed complaints this end. Most people have seen an improvemnet in speed. Eventually we will move the board to it's own dedicated box, until then, this is as fast as it gets.

Yes my humble slave, the best is yet to come...

Hey Rob!

Now we surely managed to p*** off the Tonys and Sabrinas of the world. But I feel it is our God-given duty to provide the only fun some people seem to have in life.

BTW, on the first page of the forum the thread name doesn't show when that the thread has more than 1 page, what happened?

I have a question for Rob. I see Bronze under most of our names, can we work our way to GOLD? LOL ...I can't seem to find what the bronze stands for.
Thanks

you want speed, get windows xp

Now that I surf the pages with my new buddy, windows xp, everything seems to be done faster. I find the new format to be much faster on my XP. My modem is faster and the downloadings are much more smoother and quicker. I click and the page flash right on the screen; not like the old format where I had to wait for the new page to download until more hair fell off my head.
So the moral of the story is: get windows XP and enjoy the new experience. Oh, make sure you have 500mhz or faster CPU and 256 megs of ram. What I am trying to say is that get a new PC before you even go near XP.
BTW. I liked the older format. Sorry rob....
But I am getting used to the new one.

Hi back to ya' Pib, SPEED. . .

I'm on a 288 dial-up and a Windows 95 oldie PC, the screen hangs on each new page,
10 to 30 sec. Even Jim H. complained about the S-P-E-E-D I do like the "click on new
posts" feature, but I really miss the instant over view, or thread tree from the old BB and
figuring out the mark-up of your text is still a mystery. . .

regards, . . . CES

I have two computers running different operating systems, different providers of internet service, different versions if IE, both using dial-up access, and I cannot access the message boards. The DR1.COM home page comes up fine. My T1 access is instant. On all 3 computers, including the T1 access, the browser locks up when accessing CNN.COM, but only for a few minutes.

I haven't determined the cause yet. It is not because of a slow server on the DR1.com side.

The ol' dawg is learnin' the new tricks...

Ever since I got DSL via Codetel, things are much much faster. Especially downloads at 28kbs! Super fine. Not the speediest but fine for me.
The board has lots of new gimmicks which are nice: You can go to a thread w/o having to scroll waaaay down the page. You can read the last posts you haven't read before. You can e-mail posters quite easily.

Over all, I like it....

About the speed

I find the new format slower. I have a cable connection and previously it was less than a second to switch between pages. Now I wait 10-15 seconds to move back and click on new pages. The new format is progress and a bit more fun.
