When I read the reports, I am missing something. Do they state an initial reason for coming in to close the bar or bars in Cabarete?

I played at Kahunas many times.

What seems to have happened is the police wanted to close the bar because it was open after hours. I had no idea there was an after hours issue.
Some patrons got into a fight with the police, grabbed a cops gun, 19 shots were fired, people injured , gun somehow recovered near Scotia Bank.

dv8 provided 2 links.
The first said it was for the noise.
The 2nd said it was for exceeded time.

And I subsequently said I had no idea there was such a thing as being open too late in Cabarete.

It seems to be a trend, the cops came late to Jolly Rogers Saturday night to close it down, or at least to turn the music off.
Was the music a live band or disco music?

At what time is the actual curfew in Sosua and Cabarete ?

Closing times are 3 a.m. on weekends and I think it is earlier on weekdays. Kahuna attracts quite a lot of gringo bikers but these people involved have Dominican sounding names.

As I stated in a threat "how to handle noisy people/colmado's" things are changing concerning noise disturbance. They're cracking down on all kind of establishments all over the country. They want you to make your noise in an airconditioned closed room. They are inforcing more and more heavily all over the country.

Incidents like these are why I hate seeing so many guns about. It couldn't happen in the UK where the police aren't usually armed with guns - certainly not for something as routine as closing a late-open bar.

So it's not just the Premium/El Flow in Sosua that gets the occasional shoot-out reputation, now you can add the up market Cabarete Kahuna bar to the list - 19 bullets flying around, that's quite a few to miss....

What was that Winde said yesterday about me having a vivid imagination about protecting myself from being a victim? All that gunfire and no one wounded? Someone needs to spend more time at the gun range. Miaybe its like Samuel L Jackson says in Pulp Fiction, "that was the hand of god at work". Does anyone not think that the kind of person who would shoo a cop would hesitate to kill you or me over a scratch on their car or some other nonsense. The DR can be a very dangerous place and not just driving. Especially watch out for the mayor!
