Taking from a post by Anna C - who wrote the Dominican Consulate in Ottawa about exit visas
we now have the following information
"Note one can only apply for residency if he/she falls under one of the following categories: the child of a Dominican citizen/legal resident, married to a Dominican citizen/legal resident, under work contract of indefinite duration, as property owner in the country, as investor with business already established in the country, enrolled in an academic institution, retired in Canada and would like to continue retirement there, rentier and lives off rental income or missionary and plan to work with a institution in the country. The residency process starts in Canada by first applying for Residency Visa (valid for 2 months and 1 entry) and within the first 30 days of its validity you must submit your Provisional Residency Application in Santo Domingo. Please find attached the requirements to apply for the Dominican Republic Residency Visa."
The only issues are How much the property needs to be valued at - (200k?) and how much for rentier/retirement income ($1500)
thought this would be on interest to newbies --
