A vice consul at the Haitian consulate in Dajabon blocked traffic on the bridge between Dajabon and Ouanaminthe for two hours in protest against her treatment by customs agents. She said that she was asked to show both her papers and the papers for her car.. whereas as a diplomat, she should have been exempt from all questions.

Ok two thoughts - questions.. - her car a Nissan SUV must have had diplomatic plates .. and, as such should have been exempt-- yeah? nay?

Dajabon is a very small town and she should have been known to the guards? (Unless she was just showing up for work for the first time?

Could have been brand new (to the area) customs agents too. Just doing their job but she expects special treatment. She doesn't get it so she throws a hissy fit. And in the process inconveniences the people she is supposed to represent.

brilliant thoughts from ctrob. in his first sentence, he uses the words could have been, which suggests to any reasonable man that he is not sure whether it was her first day on the job, or she had been there for a while. despite his lack of concrete information, he goes on to tell us that she threw a hissy fit because she did not get special treatment.

brilliant.

of course a car with diplomatic license plate can be stopped.
such plates are as fakes used all around, heck, i see all the time a number of da shyt around the 'hood here, too.
so once stopped, the "Diplomatic Corps Person" in the car shows her(his diplomatic passport, and all is fine, no further questions asked, everything as it has to be.
this specific person is just a biach with a diplomatic status.
if she would have that status due a brain worth something, she would know that she is obliged to show her diplomatic credentials where ever authorities ask for ID,
otherwise every scumbag would ride around the globe with a selfmade diplomatic license plate on the golden Nissan Patrol, lol.
as a chief of a diplomatic corp, i would take such person right away off services and ban her from becoming a member again in the future, she's just arrogant selfloving trash.

He understood very well Mike. What he said is an American phrase used when someone REALLY speaks their mind. Consider it sarcasm. :)

The never ending problem with an open border betwen two enemy nations/people.

Nothing will be solved until the full closure of that border.

It is more of a strong dislike between bordering nations.

Exactly, a very very strong natural dislike unmatched anywhere else in this hemisphere.

Not a problem in itself.

Haitians simply need to stay out of DR and stop buying all that stuff from DR.

Minimize contact and all will be good.

interesting view.
but how would the DR survive
if Haiti would stop to buy all that stuff from DR?

DR would find new markets, and Haiti would starve even more than they do now.

Starving???? So DR is DONATING food to Haiti????

Who knew, and I thought Haiti was buying.

But I like your idea, it should be easy for DR to implement.

Ain't no mountain high enough; ain't no river wide enough. To keep me from getting to you babe. Hope you sleep with a machete by your bed. Those dark-skinned enemies will get you. Or their voodoo will.

newsflash...the DR is not the only potential supplier of food to Haiti.

i agree with GWOZOZO when he suggests that Haiti should seek to be self sufficient, and reduce trade with the DR. NO industrial nation on the face of the earth ever became one without a policy of tariff protections and exclusion of the products of other countries.
