Hey Rob

You might want to ad a link to Oanda.com or another currency conversion site to DR1. It comes in handy...

Problem with those sites is that they just give you an idea of what you will get. Commercial banks are giving less than the rate oanda quotes. The official rate listed by the Central Bank is closer to what these are buying at. Exchange houses will offer a few points more, but these rates will differ from place to place. We post the lower Central Bank rate as reference. We also feel it is better for people to have lower expectations, so they are not disappointed when cashing at the banks, and feel good about getting more from the exchange houses.

Disappointment?

You have a rate of 17.04 posted for US exchange, and the money changers in Cabarete (this Sunday) are changing at 16.85.....I think your goal of aiming low has failed!
