I have heard that JB will be dropping this route.

For those of us who use the flight, let's watch for more news.

Personally, I have never been on an 'underloaded' flight but I know that they have dropped prices close to
departure dates.
That might indicate an underload problem.

I got an $850 refund for a Christmas/New Year's ticket and my friend got $630.
It was re-priced close to departure... big discount

we'll see

If Jet Blue drops the route does that leave Air Canada and West Jet as the only two international carriers flying into LT?
I vaguely recall seeing a AA flight from New York there last year but I cannot remember with 100% certainty.
Air Canada looks to be flying into AZS from Montreal , Toronto and Halifax from what I can see.
Where was Jet Blue flying from?

Seems Jetblue website won't let you book anything after the 30th April 2016, no departures, no arrivals... This sucks a bit!

WTF ?

I guess I keep on flying into SDQ, even the kids are used to it by now.

'Frica.... always use the low fare guarantee

I have an $850 credit... which I'll need to use before Apr 30.
I can confirm that is the last flight.....Saturday, Apr 30.

Just not enough traffic.... well, revenue...

Any way......

I have a Wednesday departure first week in March. I paid under $375usd round trip. I would doubt that Jet Blue would cancel this flight. They have been expanding routes into the Caribbean.

Try May LT.... rebalancing flights to Punta Cana.... no more AZS.

They are expanding , yes - to more profitable and popular routes
You cite a good example of what they need to charge to get passengers.....
not enough, in their mind

I think the flights are restricted to high season. After Easter in the Caribbean and the DR business drops off significantly and flights are suspended into AZS.

Steve,
since 2012 there have been 2 flights/week........
JB is calling it an underperforming destination and will dedicate more flights to Punta Cana.
They are the number one RD airline (they say).
They are the only US airline to service AZS.... but do all the others as well

This cancellation isn't public knowledge yet - stay tuned.

BTW, I fly it all year round... there no more or less flights in July than January

Interesting. I found LT VERY noticeably busier in winter 2015 than winter 2014. Particularly in the area where I stay in the stretch from Colibri to Alisei. There was no doubting the number of tourists was up dramatically.
I attributed this (in my small mind) to increased air traffic through AZS. I know this is just one airline cancelling one route but I wonder if the result will be noticeable in winter 2017.
My daily hotel rate has also gone up about $15 / day which is another indicator that the tour trade in LT has been picking up in recent years.
I likely would not return to LT in 2017 if I had to go through SDQ, but that is just me. I know many do not mind.

Look at the flight to room ratio other places...
I expect LT falls short on that measurement.

Compared to Punta Cana.... or elsewhere.

LT ( although well known to us) is still 'undiscovered' by many

There are echos that say the Government did not renew the Jetblue/AZS contract, if this is true the government
could not be more stupid.. I've asked Jetblue for their side of the story but no reply yet

I hear it's JetBlue economics.
They can do better elsewhere on the island & Caribbean.

The San Juan to St Maarten flight is going too.
Same thing... economics

No one knows LT, tired of explaining that I am not going to Punta Cana. Even by Dominicans abroad (to my great surprise).
I admit I kinda like it that way (selfish I know).

Yes I sent an e-mail to JetBlue and they confirmed that this route was being eliminated, as you said on 4/30. That is too bad because it was certainly a nice direct flight. I would not be surprised if another airline picks up this route. It's funny every flight I have take from JFK to AZS seems full so I am wondering why it is not profitable? It seems if they ran it from Dec to April it would pay off. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
