there are quite a few impressive wrecks in front of AMET in POP. never thought of them as bad examples, they are more of a distraction, i wish i could see them up close.

I saw one, don't remember where, but I think between Puerto Plata and Santiago. It was a distraction to me as well.

It's actually an awareness campaign of AMET for driving carefully! It's been since beginning december. We have right one behind cocotal, joining the highway! All the important junctions which are accident prone, have these samples of crushed cars.

There is one on Autopista Duarte in Santiago across for La Sirena. I really don't think it helps at all with Dominican drivers.

It might be that they take the same view as smokers when they see pictures of dead smokers and their lungs. There is a connection between smoking and taking risks. That is why no casino bans smokers, at least in the US.

THey did at one time on the Seminole Reservation in Broward county. Have they changed that?

Remember, to a Dominican, it's always the other driver's fault.

No lesson learned.

The State of Connecticut has been putting on a display of worst wrecks by towing them to the median of the turnpike for years. Looks impressive but no one knows if it works. People tend to think it will never happen to me. Might slow a gringo but a 21 year old Dominican flying by on his moto
Not so much.

Certainly a well intentioned good effort and to be applauded.

indeed. but i wonder how effective that is? there is no doubt that in DR imagery related to road accidents is really harsh. press and media publish pictures of the wrecks, the victims and all the gore. and there's still plenty of accidents anyways. it seems to me that the images serve more as satisfaction to morbid curiosity but not really as a deterrent.
