well, it's as voted by turistas and south west of DR does not really get the crowds. all three beaches listed are beautiful but DR has many more gorgeous beaches.

i really only know the north of DR: playa grande (cabrera), playa coson (las terrenas), playa el morro (montecristi). all neat.
also la ensenada (punta rucia).

I'm sorry, not one of those three mentioned beaches--Sosua, Bavaro, Playa Bonita--even remotely compares to Bahia de las Aguillas. But they are easily accessible and that makes them easy to get to for tourists.
My personal favorites are two of the hardest to reach beaches:
1. Playa Fronton.
2. Bahia de las Aguillas.

Considering together Access+Landscape+Service: In Las Terrenas the beach from cemetery to Punta Popy and further.

Technically, Playa Grande is in Rio San Juan.
The adjacent beach, Preciosa, is in Cabrera.
The dividing line is between the two.
Just clarifying.
It was quite an issue when the parking lots were being built.
Remember the second lot - to the east ? It was pressured by Cabrera
