    Default Cedulas and Regularizacion

    [
After seeing posts here regarding people being asked to go to PNRE office and collecting letters to go to Sto Dgo to collect cedulas without seeing any posts for results we went, in July to the POP PNRE Office, we were given letters and told that we would get cedulas and would then have to return to the PNRE office with them.

we then took the letters to the Police & Immigration office in Santo Domingo, they did something and gave us a paper to take to the JCE cedula office for exranjeros near to Plaza Bandera - we went in and presented our papers, after waiting for about an hour we were taken into an office for photograph and fingerprints then into a waiting room , from where they were issuing cedulas. Because of a misfiling or mis-registration  of our marriage Certificate we did not actually get cedulas but a piece of paper with a number to phone in 1 month -( which we returned to the PNRE office with to ask what had happened) -  several calls between August and December produced no results other than call again in a couple of weeks or a month
In January, after discussions with an immigration specialist lawyer we went again to
The JCE office and after a very short time left with our 1 year temporary cedulas - we were told that we had to go to Migracion office which we did, only to be informed that we had to return to the PNRE Office in POP. We did this and they filled in a form and took fingerprints again in this forme, we needed 2 colour  copies of both sides of our cedulas ( nobody told us but we had done this before going as we like to have copies of everything in case of loss)
They then told us that thes forms were to be sent to StoDgo and that we would be contacted once our residency cards were ready for collection - maybe we will get before the renewal date(July) - maybe not, but we do have cedulas ! With no extra costs except for the use of a lawyer who knows everybody and gets things done quickly

You need to go back to the PNRE office where you registered with your paper with photo and barcode - they will go into the files and you should then get a letter to take to Santo Domingo.

Alan excellent news albeit belated for you and whoever went with you. Yes an immigration lawyer always helps for those who can afford it. Proves once and for all the Plan was beneficial to long term overstayers.

Make use of that cedula and get your provisional driving license as a start, but also notify bank, telephone company and insurance companies. Much easier to carry than a passport.

Next question and the big one. What type of residency card do you get. I'm rooting for you in the hope that you get either a one year temporary residency only or direct to permanent based on the basis you have proven you did your five years in DR and have a link to the country.

Note: Not everyone's paperwork that has applied to the PLAN, is ready for these next steps.

It is quite likely that there will be extensions to the existing 2 year cards to accommodate the extra time needed to process all those that have applied.

So don't be surprised if you go, call, or whatever and it is not there.

It is being done / delivered in 'batches'...

    Residency Card Update

I took the cedula (and a photo copy) I was issued as part of the plan back to the office where I first applied. After about 30 minutes of digging through files they produced the original forms I had submitted complete with my original photos. The officer asked for my parents names and dates of birth, my marriage status, contact phone number and for one personal reference of a local you have known for at least a year. She wrote all of that down on the form and added my cedula number to the form and that was it. At the bottom of the form there are two boxes for your finger prints, she inked me up and took both of my index fingers and I was on my way.

I asked her what is the next step and her reply was to wait for a phone call and when ready I would need to go collect it in Santa Domingo. She had no ETA to give me, she was honest and said neither she nor anyone else currently have a clue as to the time frame.

anyone know what the next step is if you applied to the PRNE and received a sticker/visa "no residente" in your passport? Ive gone many times to the Ministry of Interior and Police and they keep saying come back later.

Truth is Ive submitted more than enough documents and proof etc...but I no one can point me in the right direction to tell me anything.

The link here talks about people who applied to the PRNE and received "Temporary Resident status"...(I thought everyone received a sticker or "cedula/card" with "NO RESIDENTE" STATUS.
