He's going to the states for surgery next month I believe, but says he will allow his employees to run the biz in his absence.
Ran into him on my POP trip last mo.

His beach place was open and he was there supervising things last week (a couple of days after Maria).
If you haven't been there in a while, his casita is now closer to the el batey side of the beach.

Were there any damages to the casitas?

They must have paid their taxes. It was open tonight.

From Hurricanes Irma and Maria?  No, not really. Playa Sosua was relatively lucky in that regard. Some downed tree limbs, leaky roofs, etc. but nothing "destroyed" by the winds. And the storm surge didn't reach their levels.

November 7 marked a great anniversary. It was two years that the sidewalk construction on Pedro Clisante had started. Two years ago we were told that the entire job would be completed in 6 weeks.....now 2 years later it looks just as bad as Syria. Many tourists have commented that it looks like a bomb has dropped and they are not far off. Looking at the street yesterday, I think the sidewalks are now walkable. Some finishing touches are needed and those poor dried out palms, what a shame. Certainly isn't the street I walked onto 8 years ago. 1/2 step forward and 5 steps back.

Yes, and the street's look is not helped by the ugliness of the bars they closed down in an attempt to "improve" things - now just empty shells.

It's all part of the ultimate plan for Sosua.
