    Hola Windy

It appear that it is $180 for two.

All-inclusive rates means meals and drinks for 2 included! $180 USD/night

    Hola NY-DR Commuter

You seem to be "in the know".... why is the Ahnvee site, still full of non-Ahnvee pictures?
There is one (funny) video, and a few shots of the suites, and a lot of fake people, appearing to have fake fun.
When the athletes arrive next week, will we see real pictures, of real athletic people ,on your site, having real fun?
    Non-Bedroom fun.
Do you have a list of activities?

This thread is better than the Brewster thread which I got put on double secret probation for. If not for anything but a few laughs. Oh well, we won't go there again. LOL. Being a Southie (not Boston, but rather South Coast), I don't understand all the animosity about a project that may do good for the area. I do get the distrust and shaking of heads as to "here we go again", but if the project does well, why is that bad? Also, there seems to be some that are in true denial about what Sosua's reputation was/has been for over 25 years. I for one, never confused it as a family vacation type of place. I have only been there twice. Both times in 2008. The first time I was so disgusted, that I actually returned a second time, not a joke, but rather, just to give it another chance. It failed my test again. This had nothing to do with the business minded women (which yes, can be found all over the country), but more to do with other elements. Maybe in being a native New Yorker, I had no interest in returning to Times Square of the 70's/80's, or being surrounded by more New Yorkers than in New York. The place had no appeal for me. But, that was me. There can be no denial about what the place was about, because before I had ever visited there I had heard stories for over 15 years. The stories were not false. Why anybody would want to subject their wife or children to that atmosphere was beyond me. There has been a lot of energy put into this thread with people using their keyboard muscles, and I just wonder why if you have that direct of an interest in Sosua, why wouldn't you actually bond together and get on top of the local government to get things done? Keep in mind I'm not under any illusion that this is an easy thing to do in DR, but I think it's fair to say that if all of you packed up/boarded up and left, the town would be a ghost town with a neighboring slum. Sad but true. Stop fighting each other, and try to accomplish something for the better for yourselves.

Well, I just saw the video, and I think I answered my own questions. Hmmm. Sorry, but I'd have to lean towards the segment of society that believes this will be nothing more than expensive cabanas and orgy dens. Do you really believe Bob and Jane from Kalamazoo will stay here? Or how about Fred and Winnie from Manchester? Not to mention Hans and Gret from Munich. Maybe they'll bring the kids along. What you will get are professional businessmen, such as bankers/traders/lawyers/managing partners that may have been too shy to stay at some of the other low budget places, for fear of having their private three to five day stays exposed for what they were/are. You'll also have your fair share of people from the...from the...well let's just say "Amateur Pharmaceutical Industry". The video speaks volumes. I got a kick out of the guy popping the Viagra pill.

It looks nice enough. $180 a night a little pricey for DR. One of the draws of DR was it was an inexpensive place to come for good weather, beach and close proximity to the US East Coast and Eastern Canada.
Now if prices start climbing to over $1,000 pp for a week just for lodging and a couple meals, then the allure is going to fade. (wages have not risen in the US for 9 years). People can book packages to Hawaii with golf for near that price.
And Punta Cana has the North Coast beat for family facilities and bigger better beach. A couple years ago I did a week with all booze and food included in Punta Cana for $444 in a great A.I. "Blue Ocean". I'm sure it has gone up but I just had a friend book 4 nights with air fare from Ft. Lauderdale in another A.I. there for $879 pp.
One question haunting me - Will this new resort change the water and clean the indoor hot tub after each couple checks out or is there a month of sharing the couples love bath ? Water is not so cheap and plentiful in Sosua to drain it after each use. Ugh

You're correct. Chico's math seems a bit off. If the allure of Sosua was/is it's $50 hotel rooms, well, than you're gonna get $50 guests.

I haven't been there for a few years I'm sure high season is over 1K per week with air fare but my friend booked his $879 deal for 4 nights, 5 days with RT air fare from Ft. Lauderdale in February, it seems a deal to me. He wanted to come stay with me but I can't stand his wife so I strongly suggested Punta Cana.
Maybe some A. I. puts an air fare package to Sosua but I haven't heard of one but I don't talk about that with the tourists I chat with when out drinking.

It will interesting to see the feedback from Tyrone & Vernon Shoelace on their migration down PC to their new crib. Has Big Dee gotten a spot to set up his pollo's on the can yet?

Big differences. Huge differences. Punta Cana resorts are directly on the beach and there are cheaper air fares to get there. I even have clients flying in to Punta Cana when they want to come to Cabarete because the air fare is so much cheaper.

Will $180 US a night work on a back road in Sosua? I certainly have my doubts that it will.

Forget the airfare, have you looked at the room rates in Punta Cana? *Check out Hard Rock or Nickelodeon. *Daughter wanted to bring family to Nick, prices are up there. *We laughed at the pineapple villa, something like $3,500 a night. *Yes, there are cheap packages to cheaper places *
