I'm planning on a flight out of the Santiago airport. Does anyone know if it's safe to leave your car there at the airport parking lot and how much they charge per day? I'll be gone for about a week.

They do have long term parking. I once called them and decided it was more than I wanted to pay for a 3 week stay. Don't remember the amount though.

For long term parking at STI, it is $RD300 for the first 24 hours and then $RD250 for each additional day. This information is direct from the airport last month.

Do you know if they have good security there? Any stories of cars being stolen or broken into?

No not that I know of, but leave it there for 60 days and they will put a boot on it. I communicated with a guy who had been gone for 62 days and was trying to work out a scam to claim a lost ticket and found a boot on his tire. Couldn't pull his gag. But his car was not broken into or any other problem.

I parked for 3 hours and had my wheel caps stolen. But only on one side. I learned later that a used wheel cup for a Landcruiser 100 go for 300 Peso.

A four day week end is probably no more dangerous than leaving it in La Sirena's parking lot for a few hours while shopping, I'd say.

I say you pays your money and take your chances. Hell, my truck was broken into at Orlando Inat'l short term parking several years back.

I have used Uber numerous times. No issues at all. They pick you up curbside. The airport also has free wifi, so no extra data charges if you don't have local phone service.

THat is a good price. Taxis charge from $90 to $120 if you don't push back. I used to do the run for 2500 pesos when that was about $55.00

I only used it for local transport. The longest trip I took was to Mao. It was about $25 USD.
