Turnabout is fair play. I want to be the first to wish all DR US expats a happy July 04th. I've had the pleasure to work with many of my US colleagues in the EPA, NOA, US COAST GUARD, and State Environment departments over the years. Two of my aunts married USAF serviceman and relocated to California and Florida so I still have family links there. I was always treated graciously by my US friends and admired them for their hard work and dedication. One of my favourite memories is touring the Riverwalk in San Antonio visiting the old missions and visiting the Alamo, one of the iconic American independence sites.

A lot of the foundation people I meet in the DR are US based. And I see the results of the valuable work they do in the DR.

The Canada-US border ,one of the longest in the world, is an example of how countries can work together to better the quality of life on both sides.

I am celebrating this one in America today for the first time since 2006.
Happy 4th of July to all of you American folks.

I started celebrating early and brought my precious Hebrew National hotdogs over to a Dominican friend's house. We ate like febrile hounds of hell.

I'm American and I don't really care that much about this particular holiday, but I miss the Horribles, a parade held annually in Sandwich, MA.

Man, what I wouldn't give to be in Key West today with a few of my female friends. The place is party central USA. Never been there for Independence Day celebrations. It's hard to imagine it getting crazier than it already is. If real estate was cheaper, that's where I'd hang my hat during the winter months. And I could drive there from Canada!

I was fortunate enough to spend a Halloween (October 31) weekend there once. Whew baby!

Fireworks displays were marred by rainstorms in parts of the northeast, but only a few were postponed

Hope our American members enjoyed the day
