Tennis at Casa de Campo
The International Casa de Capo Tennis Cup starts at the Las Terrazas Tennis Center in Casa de Campo, La Romana on Thursday, 1 September 2016. Players are coming from 10 countries for the tournament that ends on Sunday, 4 September.


Puerto Plata, Punta Cana and La Romana 10K runs
Enjoy a lovely run along Puerto Plata?s Malecon seafront boulevard this Sunday, 4 September 2016. The run starts at 8am. The Barcelo 10k race in Punta Cana on Sunday, 11 September. This race takes off from the Barcelo Bavaro Grand Resort at 7:30am. There is also a 5k run and children?s race. Baseball starts 20 October
It?s play ball in baseball stadiums around the Dominican Republic as of Thursday, 20 October 2016. The good news this year is that the Estadio Quisqueya, now named after pitcher Juan Marichal (member of the Baseball Hall of Fame), is undergoing renovation with new signage, repairs to the parking area, electronic surveillance for better security.

The stadium is home to the Leones del Escogido and the Tigres del Licey.

The baseball season runs all through January 2016 when the winning team is chosen to play in the Caribbean Series that takes place in early February.


Los Vivancos in Santo Domingo and Santiago
Los Vivancos present "Aeternum", where flamenco meets ballet, martial arts, tap dancing and magic. The shows, produced by Daniele Finzi of Cirque Du Soleil are scheduled for Friday 9 and Saturday 10 September at the Teatro La Fiesta of the Hotel Jaragua in Santo Domingo and on Saturday 10 September at the Centro Espanol de Santiago. This is a LAB Events production.

Regarded as global superstars, the shows by the seven Spanish brothers have received rave reviews wherever they have been performed.

Basilica La Altagracia on church attractions list
The UK Daily Mail website has a feature that lists the Basilica La Altagracia, which honors the protector of the Dominican people, the Virgin of La Altagracia, among the world?s outstanding churches.

According to the news site, the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de la Altagracia in Higuey is noted for its unusual fa?ade and its place in the Dominican Republic?s religious history. It points out that its unusual architecture, which consists of a concrete fa?ade coupled with a high arch is an attraction in itself. It also highlights the neighboring museum as an attraction for visiting tourists. The church is just 20 minutes from the Punta Cana tourist area.
