Noticed today the frozen food bins have been rearranged to include a new line from Madrid's Dia which includes puff pastry for bakers needs. Strawberry tarts are baking as I type.

Isn't that funny. I had brought some back with me from the US when I was there in June, and currently have spinach bourekas in the oven!

jose luis in puerto plata has had it for a while. i buy it occasionally. inexpensive, under 150 per packet.

i'm impressed how shop offers in puerto plata have changed in 10 years i've lived here. there are a lot more imported products and lots of stuff that was not available before like quinoa, bread flour, kale.

Exactly my thoughts. Ten years ago, finding canola oil in town was impossible. I had to go to Santiago. Maple syrup, quinoa? No way. Russian Kale? A dream. Finally, grocery stores realized the potential of bringing items that expats enjoy.

Still looking for frozen "empanadas" round dough for the oven. If anyone sees them around, please let me know.

dough, not dow. Sorry. I'm a teacher.

I would even like the pie dough that comes in triangles that you unfold. Pillsbury, I think. In the US you buy it in the refrigerated section.

Or how about those tubes of cinnamon rolls. Sometimes on a Sunday morning, I want one.

Great fresh baked cinnamon buns and donuts are available in Sosua not that far from where you live and work(I think I know where you live and work). PM me is you would like to know where.
