I am on a 24/7 power line and I finally have figured out what Ede Norte means by that. 24/7 electricity actually means that there is the potential for the power to go out 24 times in 7 hours. Wow yesterday was amazing.

This is what happens when a government runs a utility (or pretty much anything else).

That?s in part why I live in Punta Cana. *The emergency generator at my office has worked a total of 54 hours in the past 2 YEARS and it?s on automatic. *

it's more "potential" than "factual" 24/7, dontchaknow. for instance, our area is theoretically 24 hour power but there are interruptions, probably twice a month, going from several minutes to several hours.

this is why we do not plan to downsize on inversor or batteries (3.5 kw, 8 batteries). better safe than sorry.

So, in which first world country have you been in, where the government run power utility cuts power on a regular basis?

I have never been in a first world country where the government runs a utility. We are speaking about the DR where both the power distribution and the water company are controlled by the government in the areas being discussed.

OK. So you're putting the dr government and there faults and failures into the same category as all other governments. That my friend does not wash. I for one believe most first world countries don't fit into your all encompassing generalizing.....IMHO.

I have far less faith in governments than you do. I suggest your faith is misguided.
