Andres Pichardo takes charge at Casa de Campo
Dominican hotelier Andrés Pichardo Rosenberg has returned to the Dominican Republic to take charge at Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, replacing Rafael Torres as president of the iconic hotel.

Born and educated in the Dominican Republic, after a lengthy career as manager at several Playa Dorada hotels in their heyday from 1984-1997 (Eurotel, Victoria, Flamenco Beach, Villas Doradas Beach, Playa Dorada Beach), Pichardo joined Hacienda Hotels & Resorts in Mexico to oversee operations at five resorts.

After a two-year sojourn assisting Frank Rainieri with the repositioning and structuring of the Puntacana Resort & Club (2000-2002), Pichardo returned to Mexico to head operations at the 800-room Grand Xcaret Resort for Occidental Hotels & Resorts in Playa del Carmen.

From 2006-2015 he worked as senior vice president of operations for Mexico, Aruba, and senior VP sales and marketing for USA markets for the hotel chain.

From September 2015 to October 2016, he was responsible for Occidental operations in Mexico as part of the Barceló Hotels & Resorts and Occidental Hotels & Resorts merge. Under him were the Occidental Royal Hideaway Occidental Grand Xcaret, Occidental Grand Cozumel, Allegro Playacar, Allegro Cozumel, Tucancun Barceló and Costa Cancún Barceló.

Pichardo studied at Carol Morgan School, UNPHU and INTEC business schools with graduate hotel studies at Cornell University.

Central Romana Corporation made the formal announcement on 21 November 2016 highlighting Pichardo’s role as part of the team that led the integration process between the Barceló and Occidental Spanish hotel chains over the last year.

In the company announcement, Pichardo expresses his enthusiasm at joining the Casa de Campo team. "It is a privilege to belong to this world class resort so highly valued by its discerning guests and residents who demand the highest quality standards,” he said. “I look forward to continuing to lead the way for this unique luxury destination. We will face all challenges with passion, teamwork and innovative proposals.”

The other Occidental Hotels in the Dominican Republic under the Barceló chain are: Occidental Punta Cana (formerly Occidental Grand Punta Cana) and the Occidental Hotel El Embajador in Santo Domingo.

The announcement of the name change follows Barceló’s acquisition of Occidental Hotels. The Barceló Hotels & Resorts portfolio consists of nearly 100 hotels and almost 38,000 rooms in 18 countries. To contact the hotel, call 809 221 8787.

At the inauguration, AmResorts president Gonzalo del Peón spoke of his confidence in Dominican investments. Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia described the hotel installations as top rate quality.

AmResorts has added the Now Onyx Punta Cana Resort and Spa to its Now brand in Punta Cana. This resort, which caters to all the family is the third Now resort to open in the Punta Cana area. The others are the Now Larimar Punta Cana and the Now Garden Punta Cana.

    Atrevia positions the Colonial City
Atrevia is the company in charge of positioning the Colonial City of Santo Domingo as the leading cultural destination in the Dominican Republic.

Company director Ángel Andreo Pascual recently shared insights into the project’s marketing plan, which falls under the Ministry of Tourism’s Tourism Promotion Program for the Colonial City, a spinoff of the US$50 million IDB Colonial City renovation works.

Pascual said the plan seeks to attract tourists already coming to resorts in the country for sun and beach. He said the focus would be very much on the local people to give the plan authenticity. The idea is for the Colonial City of Santo Domingo to be regarded among the top five cultural destinations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Atrevia positions itself as the No. 1 global communications consultancy in Spain with a Latin spirit.*
