Dominican Republic nabs 92 Colombian and Venezuelan ‘hookers’

Santo Domingo.- More than 90 Colombian and Venezuelan sex workers also know as “hookers” have been removed from the popular strip clubs Casa Blanca and Pasi?n in Santiago, and Doll House in Santo Domingo.

The Office of the Anti-Trafficking of Migrants Prosecutor has detained 92 women in the strip clubs, while the Justice minister Jean Alain Rodriguez on Friday said three men and one woman will be charged with operating a human trafficking and money laundering network.

Rafael El?as Alc?ntara, owner of Doll House that was raided Thursday night; Laura Damisela Batista and Santo Rodr?guez Santos are charged with forming part of a network that traffics Colombian women.

“In the operation were rescued 15 women who were allegedly sexually exploited,” Rodriguez said, noting that the network has international ramifications,” for which Colombia and United States officials are collaborating in the operation.

In addition to Doll House, located on El Malecon seaside avenue, police searched several residences in connection with the same group.

On Friday authorities taped off the entrance to Doll House, where an armed member of a military stands guard.

Rodriguez added that in Colombia, authorities there simultaneously arrested other members of the dismantled network, and pledged to provide information on the case from now on.

I know that this was recently in one of the papers again but I don't know why. It is old news. First Passions then Casa Blanca was shut down. Passions had to be maybe 4 months ago or more. Maybe they just hit Doll House.

In today's DR1 News
Doll House nightclub shut down
The Attorney General Office reports that Rafael Elias Alcantara, who owns the Doll House nightclub on Santo Domingo’s Malec?n seafront avenue, was arrested on Thursday, 1 December 2016. Several Colombian, Venezuelan and Ukranian women who were allegedly being forced into prostitution were rescued during the raid.
Law enforcement officers closed off the Malecon between Alma Mater and Maximo Gomez avenues while the raid on the nightclub took place. Assistant prosecutor Germ?n Miranda Villalona said that several women were rescued and taken to a women’s shelter.
The raid began on Thursday evening and ended at 4am on Friday, 2 December In addition to Alcantara, Laura Damisela Batista and Santo Rodr?guez Santos are being accused of belonging to a network that traffics in women and of money laundering.
Attorney General Jean-Alain Rodriguez said that the Colombian authorities had simultaneously arrested other members of the same international network.
The law enforcement action follows several other raids on nightclubs, including Casa Blanca and Pasion in Santiago that were closed down in similar raids this year.

What a waste, the Doll House is probably the best thing happening in Santo Domingo; much better than the nasty hookers from Pueto Plata anyways. And these government officials are to die for, they are the first ones in when it comes to these types of "entertainment." Have seen it with my own eyes, bunch of clowns sure know how to be party poppers.

Agreed!!!

I have always been in favor of enclosed places for adult entertainment not street environments.

Is there ANY doubt that these women want to work there? That is exactly what they are here for in the first place.

It seems to be a euphemism as obviously the fairer sex would not willingly engage in such activity if not being actively exploited.

Its tribalism. They dont care about hookers its because they are South American and most likely earning more dough than the locals because they look different.

Shoot open up a house full of Eastern European women selling that Scoodilee WaaWaa and its all over for local talent.

Is there a chance the work conditions and pay promises they were made were inop when they arrived, and there was little they could do about it?

In Bavaro now there are more hookers than anytime in Sousa. Lots of them from Colombia and Venezuela. They came here for that purpose. No one brought them here. They came on their own. I doubt very much that these places had to go to Colombia or Venezuela to hire these girls.

These girls are not housewives looking for extra money. They are hard core putas.

Coming on their own is different than being recruited and housed by the owner of a club who runs it like a "company store", shuttled to work on demand, and who doesn't pay you for the services you render.
