    Hotel in Cabarete revamped
    Viva Wyndham Resorts reopened the all-inclusive Tangerine Resort on Cabarete beach on Sunday, 18 December 2016 after a US$9.5 million renovation program. Guest rooms, restaurant areas, the new Melt fusion cooking á-la-carte restaurant, lobby and bar areas were included in the overhaul. A new building with 30 ocean view rooms has been added overlooking the swimming pool.

    JW does well, gets visit from President Medina
    President Danilo Medina visited the JW Marriott last week to celebrate the hotel’s success during its first two years in operation. It has received excellent ratings from the Marriott hotel chain and international hotel rating organizations. Grupo Velutini (Blue Mall) president Luis Emilio Velutini praised the Medina administration for its clear and precise policies towards the tourism sector with the success of the hotel. He also had words of praise for the hotel’s staff.

    President Medina was accompanied by Vice President Margarita Cedeño, Minister of Foreign Relations Miguel Vargas Maldonado, Administrative Minister of the Presidency José Ramón Peralta and Minister of Public Works Gonzalo Castillo.

    The JW Marriott Santo Domingo is the only AAA 4 Diamond hotel in the capital city. It was recently selected by Tripadvisor’s Travelers Choice 2016 as the #1 Hotel for Service in the Caribbean.

    The JW Santo Domingo on Av. Winston Churchill offers guests an array of restaurants in the hotel itself as well as in the Blue Mall. In addition, there are nightly events at the Hard Rock Café and Hard Rock Live entertainment hall, also in the mall.

    Pro Am Golf Tournaments in Casa de Campo
    Casa de Campo in La Romana will be hosting a series of Pro Am golf tournaments in 2017. The program includes the 33rd Pro-Am Caribbean International from 10-15 January 2017, the 43rd Pro Am International from 17-22 January and the 30th Pro-Am International Caribbean II from 26 February to 3 March.

    All the tournaments will take place at the three courses: Teeth of the Dog, Dye Fore and The Links.
    Casa de Campo packages include complementary golf time and spa activities for people accompanying the golfers.

    Wingo flies to PUJ from Bogota
    Colombians can now fly to Punta Cana from Bogotá on the low-cost carrier Wingo. In December the airline began its weekly Bogotá-Punta Cana flights from El Dorado International Airport (BOG) to Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) on Fridays. The airline is flying Boeing 737s with capacity for 142 passengers.
