Punta Cana Carnival on 4 March 2017
Watch the best of carnival from all around the Dominican Republic in Punta Cana this coming Saturday. 

The carnival groups will parade along the Boulevard November 1st in Puntacana Village, Punta Cana. The Punta Cana Carnival is organized by the Puntacana Group. 

This year carnival groups from Aruba, Curacao, Haiti and St. Martin will open the Saturday, 4 March 2017 parade. 

A live concert follows with merengue, bachata and reggaeton. 

Entrance to the Punta Cana Carnival is free. 
 

StonoTri Cap Cana 2017
Stono, the Santo Domingo swimming and triathlon sports organization, is moving to Cap Cana to celebrate its StonoTri Cap Cana 2017. The event is set for Sunday, 12 March 2017. 

Athletes can compete in Olympic and sprint triathlon events, Olympic triathlon relays, the 5K foot race, 1.5 and 3K swims. Registration is open through 5 March 2017 or until all spots are filled.

Fabeth Martínez is the new director of Santo Domingo Hotel Association
Fabeth Martínez is the new executive director of the Santo Domingo Association of Hotels (AHSD).   

Roberto Henríquez, president of AHSD, made the announcement. He called for strong alliances between public and private entities to compete for more visitors for the capital city. He spoke during the cocktail held last week at the Hotel InterContinental to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the AHSD.  

Previously, Martínez was the executive director of the leading hotel and tourism organization for Samaná, on the northeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. 


SDQ Airport taxis have a web page
Syndicated taxi drivers serving the Las Americas International Airport (SDQ) in Santo Domingo now are offering their services online. The website makes it possible to book online and chat with the service.  The website is in Spanish. 

Rates are detailed on the site. One can learn that a taxi from SDQ to Punta Cana, a 2-1/2 hour drive, will cost at least US$139. Travel from the airport to the city of Santo Domingo is US$33.
