I checked and searched for any Sosua/Cabarete gas stove repairpersons with no luck. Does anyone have a recommendation to replace a gas burner igniter on one burner?

not sure if this will be of help. we use a company called elias estufas in puerto plata. you can reach the owner at 809 942 7191 (spanish only). they offer repair and replacement of parts. you'd need to know the brand and model of your stove so they can check beforehand if they have it.

What brand a model is the stove? It will be very important to know that since there are so many.

Cabarete
We use a guy in Sabaneta. I can't remember his name but his number is 809 720 3255. If you want to buy parts, the small Freddy's shop, opposite the Sosua Supermarket has a lot.

That model number does not show up in a google search, but that does not surprise me since it may be some model labelled for the DR. Hard to say what will work without some local "expert" taking a look at it.

If you haven't already - before calling the repairman first check the obvious; turn off or unplug the power to the stove, lift the top up so that you can see the burner and ignitors. Is the faulty burner ignitor connected (has the wire become unplugged or rotted in two?), has anything "boiled" over on that particular burner? if so, give the burner and connection a good scrub with soapy steel wool or something similar, give it time to dry and give it another try. Might be a faulty ignitor although usually all the burners will give problems vice just the one...good luck!

I just use a 'clicker' igniter for the stubborn burners.

The cleaning girl can 'over clean', them... no flame...

When I first arrived in the DR my stove had similar problems. We went to Freddies with the parts in hand, got them replaced and haven't had to go back and it's been 12 years. And banzai's suggestion is a great one also.

Would be very surprised if Freddy's carry's igniters for GE or whirlpool like I have ,just to get to my igniters you have to remove about 5 screws.
